The core theology and philosophy that penetrates “Hwandangogi( 桓檀古記 )” is chunil ( 天一 ), jiil( 地一 ), and taeil( 太一 ). Chunil( 天一 ) is taking charge of creation, jiil( 地一 ) is advocating teaching, and taeil( 太一 ) is insisting on reigning. In the order of Heaven-Earth-Man or Jogyochi( 造敎治 ), taeil( 太一 ) is a futuristic and human concept emerging from history. In the Three Fathers (Hwanin( 桓因 ), Hwanung( 桓雄 ), and Dangun( 檀君 )) era of Hwanguk( 桓國 ) Baedal( 倍達 ) Joseon( 朝鮮 ), people pursued opening a new light within their mind and becoming a complete man (Jeon, 佺 ) connected with heaven and earth, by undergoing Jeon’s spiritual training and making it an everyday rule to practice its precepts, which is to become a taeil( 太一 ) man. “Hwandangogi( 桓檀古 記 )” says, “The utmost sense of taeil is yang energy”, meaning the origins of creation lies in taeil( 太一 ). As such, taeil( 太一 ) has two different meanings: as the origins of creation, it is the great one which is original, creative, bodily, past and natural; and as the completion of human, it is the great openness which means human, individual, acquired, and futuristic. In the Chinese classical “Zhangzia( 莊子 )”, “Lüshi Chun Qiu ( 呂氏春秋 )”, “Xunzi( 荀子 )”, “The Huainanzi( 淮南子 )”, “Liji( 禮記 )”, “Shiji( 史記 )”, “Hanshu( 漢書 )” and “Taeulgeumhwajongji( 太乙金華宗旨 )”, the word taeil( 太一 ) is mentioned, and the bamboo slips of Gwakjeomchomyo( 郭店楚墓 ) excavated in 1993 said that taeil( 太一 ) gave birth to the water. Here, taeil( 太一 ) is mainly referred to as the origins of creation and can be interpreted as Taoism, the original god, the original energy, and the ancient times. Also, taeil( 太一 ) is used as the name of Polaris, Taeil-star, and the god. The Chinese people worshiped Taeulgugochunjon( 太乙救苦天尊 ) as the taeil god( 太一神 ) which is a godless god relieving and saving the suffering of people. The Qinghua Palace( 靑華宮 ) in Xi’an, China, is a court that serves as a base for the taeul god. In addition, there is a taeul god in the human body, the most honorable god that plays the role of governing the life of a person. After Emperor Wu of Han( 漢武帝 ) established the grave of Taeuljinin( 太乙眞人 廟 ) (a shrine to Taeuljinin) and held a ancestral rite the taeil god, Mt. Jongnam( 終南山 ) was called Mt. Taeil( 太一山 ) where Taeul Palace Jin( 太乙宮鎭 ) (Jin is an administrative district like myeon in Korea) is still used and Taeil Palace( 太乙宮 ) is restored. In addition, the name of taeil( 太乙 ) is used for religious tricks, Chunbong-star( 天蓬星 ), god of right eye, Taeulgyo( 太乙敎 ) as one of the Taoist sect, Taeilgwan as an offfice for the religion, pen name for King Seongtang( 成湯王 ), the name of the palace, the name of the palace, the name of prescription of herbal medicine, the name of acupuncture point, the name of medicine (Taeilyeoryang, 太一餘糧 ), and the name of combination of five fortunes and six energies (Taeilchunbu, 太一天符 ).
