간호대학생의 표준주의 지식, 간호전문직관이 중환자간호 수행자신감에 미치는 영향 = The Influence of Knowledge of Standard Precautions and Nursing Professional Values on Nursing Students’ Critical Care Nursing Performance Confidence

The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge of standard precautions, nursing professional values, and critical care nursing performance confidence among nursing students who has experienced critical care practice experience. Additionally, it sought to identify factors influencing critical care nursing performance confidence. The study participants consisted of 170 nursing students from four universities in two regions. Data were collected through an online self-reported survey conducted from December 4 to December 18, 2023. The results of this study indicate that the knowledge score for standard precautions was 85.5 points on average as a percentage, with the highest score in the subdomain of personal protective equipment use (95.9 points) and the lowest score in environmental management (71.5 points). The average score for nursing professional values 85.5 points on average as a percentage, with the highest score in the subdomain of self-concept of the profession (88.6) and the lowest score in social awareness (70.1 points). The mean score for critical care nursing performance confidence was 85 points on average as a percentage, with the highest score in the subdomain of safety protection and infection prevention management (90.8 points) and the lowest score in the subdomain of critical care device monitoring (76.7 points). The factors influencing the subjects' critical care nursing performance confidence were identified as the subdomains of nursing professional values: the roles of nursing service, self-concept of the profession, social awareness, and environmental management as the subdomains of standard precautions in that order, explaining 43% of the variance in critical care nursing performance confidence. In conclusion, this study suggested that the knowledge of standard precautions, nursing professional values, and critical care nursing performance confidence that nursing students should have are not only important factors, but also have close interrelationships with each other and can act integrally in nursing practice. Therefore, a strategy to improve critical care nursing performance confidence is needed by positively establishing nursing professional values through clinical practice education programs that strengthen standard precautions education for infection prevention in critical care practice and strengthen knowledge of environmental management as the subdomains of standard precautions.
