고려시대 조운제와 마산 석두창 = The Marine Transportation System(漕運制) and Sukdu Storehouse(石頭倉) of Masan(馬山) in the Goryeo Dynasty

This paper examined the Marine Transportation System, one of important subjects in the age of Goryeo, on the basis of other research results in field of this study. In the chapter Ⅱ, The author reviewed existing results of study. Firstly, the Marine Transportation System founded on `Storehouse for keeping Grains paid as tax`(漕倉) was established in the late reign of HyunJong(顯宗). Secondly, private ships, apart from pubic ships(漕船) belonging to `Storehouse for keeping Grains paid as tax`, were mobilized in order to operate the Marine Transportation system smoothly. Thirdly, the operating expenses of the Marine Transportation System included sundry expenses as well as rents of ship corresponded to the cost of transportation to the capital. In the latter period of Goryeo, the operating expenses were too much by the plunder of Japanese pirates and the change in the system of labor service(요役制). While the existing studies had laid stress on public factors such as the labor service of lowly people(賤民) who resided in district of tribute storehouse and pubic ships(漕船) belonging to it, this paper focused on private factors such as private participation and the social, economic changes by it. In the chapter Ⅲ, The author analyzed a traffic network in the neighborhood of Sukdu Storehouse in order to estimate the district collected taxes(收稅區域) and location of it. The collected grain gathered in Sukdu Storehouse through Nakdong River and Keumju road(金州道). The ferries of Nakdong River and many stations of Keumju road such as Jumulyunjin(主物淵津) played an important part in a transportation to Sukdu Storehouse. Given the routes of transportation and conditions of location of Sukdu Storehouse, it would be located in Sanho-Dong(山湖洞) of Masan. But the operation of Sukdu Storehous was in difficulties by a long distance of voyage, a rugged road, and a frequent plunder of Japanese pirates. In the latter period of Goryeo, the operating expenses of it was highest among 13 Storehouse for keeping Grains paid as tax. Finally, Sukdu Sotrehous was closed in the process of copping with plunder of Japanese pirates.
