IEA 시민의식 국제비교연구 참여를 통한 아시아 청소년들의 시민의식 비교 연구 = ARM 예비조사결과를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 국제교육성취도평가협회가 주관한 2009년도 시민교육 국제비교조사에 공식적으로 참여하여 경험하고, 얻은 자료들을 활용하여 한국 청소년들의 시민의식수준을 국제비교의 관점에서 객관적이고 면밀하게 이해하는 것이다. 이에, 국제비교연구가 갖는 문화적 특수성과 상이성을 고려하여, 이 연구는 당 조사에 참여한 아시아 문화권 국가들을 대상으로 청소년들의 시민의식수준을 객관적으로 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 연구방법으로는, 국제비교조사에 참여한 한국, 홍콩, 대만, 태국, 인도네시아의 대표 연구진들이 국제교육성취도평가협회의 공통 가이드라인 하에 공동으로 개발한 아시아지역 설문도구를 활용하여 2008년 수행된 예비조사 자료를 중심으로 아시아 5개 국가 간 청소년들의 시민의식의 차이를 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 아울러, 아시아지역 설문도구의 기술적 적합성도 함께 검정하였다. 이 연구를 통해 도출된 아시아 청소년 시민의식의 객관적 비교결과는 2010년 12월 이후에 공개될 세계 38개 참여국들에 대한 방대한 양의 본조사 자료를 체계적으로 분석하기 위한 기초자료로써 그 활용가치가 클 것으로 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was intentionally designed to obtain objective data on civic perceptions and the levels of preparedness of Asian students in lower secondary school by participating in 2009 International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS), the international comparisons study undertaken by 38 countries. The purpose of the study was to objectively delve into the ways in which Asian young people perceived their roles as citizens through data-driven comparative analysis. In terms of methodology, a national comparison of students’ civic perceptions between Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, Chinese Taipei and Thailand, was conducted. Incidentally, these were the five East Asian and the Pacific area countries that participated in the ICCS(using the module specifically designed to represent traditional Asian cultures and traditions). Based on these findings, we attempted to show how Asian students perceived civic issues in an Asian context, whether similarly or differently. In addition, this study attempted to add educational interpretations and make suggestions for further analyses.
