탈북청소년을 위한 집단미술치료 체험연구 = (A) Study on Experience of Group Art Therapy for North Korean Teenager Refugees in South Korean

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 탈북청소년과의 집단미술치료를 통해 그들이 느끼는 체험의 의미와 본질이 무엇인지 이해하는 것이다. 본 연구에는 해석학적 현상학의 질적 연구방법의 하나인 van Manen의 연구방법을 적용하여 체험의 본질에 집중, 체험탐구, 해석학적 현상학의 반성, 해석학적 현상학의 글쓰기, 지향적인 관계유지, 부분과 전체를 고려한 연구 상황의 균형의 6단계로 적용하여 연구를 수행하였다.
체험의 본질에 집중하는 단계에서 연구자는 탈북 청소년이 집단미술치료를 통해 어떠한 경험들을 하였으며, 미술치료가 그들에게 어떠한 의미를 갖는가의 현상학적 질문을 형성하였다.
체험탐구 단계에서는 서울 신월동에 위치한 ‘P 교회’에 출석하고 있는 탈북청소년들을 만나 본 연구의 목적을 설명하고 그 중 연구에 참여하기를 원하는 3명을 연구 참여 동의하에 선정하였다. 연구 참여자들은 모든 진술내용과 치료회기의 내용들이 녹음되며 작업한 그림과 작품들은 사진으로 남기어 연구 자료로 사용된다는 것에 동의하였다. 미술치료는 2006년 1월 초부터 3월 까지 총 10회기에 걸쳐 진행되었고, 개별면담은 회기 후나 참여자의 상황에 맞추어 이루어졌다. 녹음된 진술 내용은 연구자에 의해 문서로 옮겨져 자료 분석 시 기초참고자료로 사용되었고, 그 외에도 다양한 문헌과 예술작품이 자료 분석 시 참고자료로 적용되었다.
해석학적 현상학의 반성 단계에서는 참여자들의 진술을 분석하여 공통되는 주제를 분석하여 <탈북으로 인한 힘들었던 상황을 털어놓는 기회>, <미술작업을 통한 나와의 만남>, <집단이 주는 격려의 힘 경험>, <미래를 꿈꾸고 소망함>의 4개의 대주제를 도출하였다.
본 연구를 통해 얻어진 이상의 본질적 주제와 하위주제들을 바탕으로 하여 탈북청소년이 경험한 집단미술치료 체험에 대한 결론을 내리면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 탈북청소년에게 집단미술치료의 의미는 언어를 대신하여 불안정한 내면적 갈등을 드러내어 표출해 내도록 도와주는 상징적인 의사소통의 체험이다. 둘째, 탈북청소년에게 미술치료는 미술작업을 통하여 자신의 갈등을 구체적이고 객관적으로 다루게 하며 진지하게 자신과 내적대화를 할 수 있는 체험의 기회를 제공한다. 셋째, 탈북청소년에게 집단미술치료는 이미지로 표출된 개인의 내면의 문제를 집단이 함께 다루어 봄으로, 집단을 통하여 격려 받는 체험이다. 넷째, 탈북청소년에게 미술치료는 현재 자신의 삶에서 소중한 것들을 구체화시켜봄으로 자신의 긍정적 에너지를 발견하며 건강한 미래를 설계하고 소망할 수 있는 체험이다.
향후의 후속연구에 대한 제언은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 탈북청소년의 연령·성별·탈북시기·탈북경위(자신이 결정한 탈북인지 타인에 의한 탈북인지, 탈북 후 제3국에서의 체류기간ㆍ가족과의 거주형태) 등이 고려된 다각도의 연구가 행해져야 한다고 본다. 탈북자 각 개인이 경험한 환경과 현재 처한 상황을 이해하여 세분화된 접근이 행해질 때 좀 더 효과적인 치료적 접근으로 이어질 수 있다고 본다.
둘째, 예방차원에서 탈북초기 즉 정착시기 이전에 심리치료의 접근이 효율적으로 이루어진다면 이는 그들의 문제를 조기부터 개입하여 더 큰 문제를 예방하고 정신건강을 도모하는 계기가 될 것이다.
셋째, 탈북청소년의 집단미술치료 뿐 아닌 개인미술치료 및 가족미술치료를 시도해 볼 필요가 있다. 집단치료와 병행되는 개인치료는 탈북청소년에 대해 보다 심층적이고 집중적인 연구의 기회를 제공하기 위해 필요하다고 여겨진다.
넷째, 10회기 이상의 장기 미술치료가 보다 심층적인 이해와 체험연구가 가능할 것이다. 청소년으로서 심리적 변화가 잦은 그들에게 본 연구의 치료기간이 다소 짧았음을 고려하여 볼 때 좀 더 장기간에 걸친 안정적인 치료적 접근이 필요하겠다.
다섯째, 남한청소년과 탈북청소년과의 집단 상호관계 미술프로그램에 대한 연구의 필요성이다. 이것은 진정한 통합의 의미로서, 남한사람들이 탈북자에 대해 이해하도록 돕는 교육이 동시에 이루어질 때 탈북자의 효과적인 적응이 이루어진다 생각한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning and essence of the North Korean teenager in refugees' experiences from the group art therapy. To achieve the purpose of this study, the study was processed according to the order of 'turning to the nature of lived experience', 'investigating experience as we live it', 'hermeneutic phenomenological reflection', ' hermeneutic phenomenological writing', 'maintaining a strong and oriented relation', 'balancing the research context by considering parts and whole' and so on by applying the research method of Max van Manen, which are one of the quality research methods of hermeneutic phenomenology.
On the stage of the 'turning to the nature of lived experience', the phenomenological question, 'how are the experiences of the North Korean teenager in refugees from the group art therapy and what do they to them?' is made.
On the stage of the 'investigating experience as we live it', various kinds of materials are collected. The participants were three North Korean teenager in refugees from 'P refugees' church' in Sinwall-dong, Seoul. The participants agreed that the individual interview can be recorded and their drawing from the group art therapy can use for the study. To collect the research information, 10 times of the group art therapy carried out from January 2006 to March 2006. The individual interview about discussing the each therapy session conducted separately. The contents of the interview were written down exactly what the North Korean teenager in refugees said and it used as a major data for this study. In addition, the several literatures and the art works also collected as the reference when the survey is analyzed.
From the results of the analysis on the participants' statements at the reflection of hermeneutic phenomenology, four main subjects were revealed as following; <To have Chances Expressing their Difficult Experiences by Escape from the North Korea>, <To Meet Myself through Art Work>, <To Experience Encouragements from the Group>, <To Expect and Dream My Future>.
The following results can be made for the meaning of the group art therapy that the North Korean teenager in refugees experienced based on the main subject and their subordinate subjects.
First, group art therapy is an experience of symbolic communication that allows a person to express their inner-self freely and disclose their mental conflict. Second, group art therapy is an experience to manage the personal conflict totally. Third, group art therapy is an experience to deal with their inner conflicts with group members and to be encouraged from the group. Fourth, group art therapy is an experience to find potentiality. The creative artistic expression works as guidelines to solve the problem caused by defection from North Korea and finds out hope.
The following results can be made for the meaning of the group art therapy that the North Korean teenager in refugee experienced based on the main subjects and their subordinate subjects.
First, Not only the age, the sex but also the personal specific issues such as the moment, the willingness, the stay period in the third estate and the individual or family refugee could be considered in various aspects. More effective therapy could be possible when the approaches considering the North Korean teenager in refugees' own experience and current situation.
Second, the early intervention that has happen before settle down is important to take precaution and keep their mental health.
Third, it is necessary individual and family art therapy to understand the North Korean teenager in refugee in depth.
Fourth, it is expected that art therapy over the long-term lasting over 10 sessions should be able to provide a more in-depth understanding of the participants' experiences. Considering that the North Korean teenager in refugee are in unstable attitude mental status, it was founded during the research that it took more time in the beginning stages for they to feel intimacy.
Finally, the interrelated program is necessary between the South Korean teenager and the North Korean teenager in refugee. They can how to help each other realize.
