‘보도자료 쓰기’를 활용한 공적 의사소통 역량 강화 교육 방안 - <사고와 표현> 교과 적용 사례를 중심으로 = Enhancing Public Communication Skills Through “Press Release Writing” － A Case Study Regarding Application in University Thinking and Expression Courses

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 뉴미디어 시대의 도래로 공적 의사소통과 사적 의사소통의 경계가 모호해진 상황에서, 대학생들의 공적 의사소통 역량 강화를 위한 교육 방안을 모색하였다. 특히, 공공기관 및 기업의 공식적인 정보 전달 수단인 ‘보도자료 쓰기’가 대학생들의 공적 의사소통 능력 향상에 효과적인 도구가 될 수 있다는 점에 주목하였다.
연구 결과, ‘보도자료 쓰기’ 교육은 학생들에게 독자 중심의 글쓰기 경험을 제공하고, 공적 맥락에 적합한 언어 사용 능력을 함양하는 데 기여하는 것으로 나타났다. 초고 작성 후 보도자료 형식으로 수정하는 과정은 학생들의 간결하고 명확한 문장 구사 능력, 객관적이고 논리적인 구성 능력, 독자 이해를 바탕으로 한 정보 전달 능력을 향상시켰다. 이러한 역량은 학생들이 미래 사회에서 책임 있는 구성원으로서 다양한 공적 담론에 적극적으로 참여하는 데 필수적인 기반이 된다.
또한, 본 연구는 ‘보도자료 쓰기’가 실제 대학 <사고와 표현> 교과의 다양한 수업 상황에 적용될 수 있음을 보여주었다. ‘쓰기’ 중심 교과와 ‘쓰기·말하기’ 연계 교과에서 보도자료 쓰기 활동을 통해 학습자들은 공적 의사소통 상황을 효과적으로 경험할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 대학생들의 공적 의사소통 교육에 대한 시사점을 제공하며, 관련 교육 프로그램 개발 및 대학 교양 교육의 질적 향상에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explored the potential of utilizing “press release writing” as an educational strategy to enhance public communication skills among university students in the new media era. Furthermore, the effectiveness of this approach in university courses was analyzed; the focus was on thinking and expression. With the growing ambiguity between private and public languages in the new media environment, the necessity of educating university students on appropriate language use in public communication contexts has emerged. This study originated from the premise that the characteristics of press releases (official documents used by public institutions and corporations for external information dissemination) can contribute to cultivating public communication skills among university students.
The research findings confirm that press release writing effectively enables students to experience reader-centered writing and fosters their ability to use languages that are suitable for public contexts. Transforming initial drafts into press releases enhances students’ proficiencies in concise and clear sentence construction, objective and logical composition, and information delivery based on audience comprehension. These competencies provide an essential foundation for students to actively participate in and contribute to various public discourses as responsible members of the future society.
Additionally, the study findings demonstrate the applicability of press release writing in diverse instructional settings in university thinking and expression courses. In writing-focused courses, students practiced writing concise and clear articles based on objective information. In “writing-speaking” integrated courses, students designed presentation materials and conducted actual presentations, thereby experiencing the entire process of public communication. The analysis of these outcomes offers insights into public communication education among university students and is expected to contribute to the development of related educational programs and the qualitative improvement of university liberal arts education.
