비행청소년 환경과 체육을 통한 정서함양 = Juvenile Delinguent's Home Environment and Culivation of Sentiment through Physical Education

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study concerns juvenile delinquent's home environments, patterns of delinquencies, and sentiment cultivation through physical education as a corrective measure. A survey was made of 866 juvenile delinquents helt at Inchon Reformatory, located in Hagik-dong, Inchon City. The following are the findings and the conclusion.
1. 70.9% of the subjects, parents were living. The subjects were roughly from the middle income breacket.
2. 64.3% of the subjects' parents were engaged in commercial business and farming.
3. 60% had the experience of running away from home.
4. In terms of their motives, 44.8% of the delinquencies were accidental.
Approximately 50% of the delinquencies were committed in metropolitan areas. The one-person delinquencies accounted for 52.2% of the total delinquencies, the two-person delinquencies 20.9%. and the delinquencies committed by three or more persons 26.9%.
5. Theft accounted for 30.4% of the total delinquencies, violence 25.4%, robbery with violence 22.4%, and rape 11.3%.
6. 46.4% of the delinquents were arrested at the scene of the crime, 36.5% within one month, 12.6% within six months, 3.3% within one year, and merely 1.2% after a longer period. Asked where they wanted to go after committing their delinquencies, 42.6% said they wanted to return home and 21.0% said they wanted to move to the entertainment area of a city.
7. Through physical education activities, 49.5% felt that they had developed a law-abiding spirit and 30.4% felt that they had developed a cooperative spirit.
8. 40.3% directiy attributed cultivation of their new sentiments to the development of skills and interest in physical education activities, and 34.8% to the acquisition of the habits of observing requlations and of obeying umpires' or referees' calls.
9. 51.3 said they could feel at peace, forgetting every trouble and affliction, and 28.9% said they could feel confident while they were taking part in physical education activities.
10. To conclude, physical education can definitely contribute to the promotion of a law-abiding spirit, a cooperative spirit, perseverance, to the refinement of violent emotions, and to the cultivation of sentiments. Group sports rather than individual sports were found to be more desirable.
