MBTI의 네 가지 심리기능을 고려한 대중설교연구 = Francis’ SIFT Theory and a Study for Preaching Model according to Psychological Functioning Theory

The aim of the present essay is to suggest a efficient preaching model as hermeneutical dialogue between the preacher and the listener from the perspective of psychology and to do so by drawing on the broad psychological tradition known as individual differences. This purpose of this study is based on the fact that there are many people who have different psychological functioning and they have different preference. Preaching is not a simple process to inform audience. It is hermeneutical dialogue between the preacher and listener. If we agree that preaching is hermeneutical dialogue between the text of scripture and the worldviews of both the preacher and the listener, it is critical for the preacher to understand the listener. It is critical for the preacher to remember as well that there are many people who have different psychological functioning and preference. The work for this present essay is to adopt L. J. Francis’ SIFT theory which is based on the idea that preferred ways of psychological functioning might shape they way that readers attend to different aspects of texts. This theory predicts what kind of interpretations might appeal to those who prefer sensing, intuition, feeling or thinking. After exploring Francis’ idea, this study will suggest a preaching model based on SIFT theory and analyze that. I hope this study would give a chance to think preaching from the perspective of psychology.
