국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문의 주제로 삼은 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a는 본 연구자의 졸업독주회 연주곡으로서, 이 곡을 연주하며 루마니아 민속음악의 독특한 리듬과 화성적인 요소들을 표현하면서 다른 작곡자들과는 차별화된 특색 있는 음악과 독특한 선율들에 깊은 인상을 받게 되었다. 이 곡이 갖고 있는 음악의 색채와 분위기, 기술적인 테크닉 표현에 중점을 두고 연주하였으며 바르톡이 추구하고자 했던 음악 세계와 세부적인 특징들에 대하여 깊이 있게 살펴보고자 이 곡을 채택하였다.
벨라 바르톡(Bela Bartok, 1881-1945)은 20세기 헝가리의 대표적인 작곡가로서 평생에 걸쳐 민속음악을 수집하고 연구하였으며 헝가리, 루마니아, 슬로바키아 및 터키와 북 아프리카의 민속음악을 채집하여 과학적이고 체계적으로 연구 분류하였다. 방대한 양의 민속음악을 연주하면서 그는 각각의 민속음악이 갖고 있는 독특한 음악적 요소를 새로운 음향세계로 만들어내었다. 그러한 음악세계를 잘 보여주는 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a는 처음으로 루마니아 민속음악을 수집한 1908년 다음 해인 1909-1910년에 작곡된 곡으로서 현대적인 특징과 민속음악적 특징이 잘 나타나 있는 거칠고 타악기적인 춤곡이다. 제1곡과 제2곡으로 이루어져있으며 이 두 곡은 기교적으로 어렵고 화려하다.
본 논문에서는 바르톡의 생애와 그가 수집활동을 하였던 나라들의 민속음악적 특징에 대하여 간략히 서술하였고 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a 이전에 작곡된 작품들 중 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a와 연관성 있는 특징적인 요소들을 리듬, 선율, 화성으로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 특히 본문에서는 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a에 나타난 특징들 중 특정 음정의 사용과 리듬, 모티브들의 변형과 반복에 중점을 두고 분석했다.
자세한 분석을 통하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다.
Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a에서는 2도, 3도, 4도음정의 단순한 모티브들이 곡 전반에 걸쳐서 변화되고 영향을 주는 중요한 역할을 한다. 오스티나토 음형이 자주 등장하고 넷째 박의 약박에 엑센트를 사용하여 박력있는 리듬을 표현하고자 하였으며 옥타브의 빠른 진행과 넓은 도약, 명료한 아티큘레이션, 여러 단계의 다이나믹의 표현 등 까다로운 기교를 요구한다. 특히 변박자의 사용이 두드러지고 주로 프레이즈의 끝, 주제가 바뀌는 부분, 그리고 연결구의 끝부분에 사용되었다. 또한 넓은 음역의 사용과 옥타브 넘나들기를 통하여 곡의 화려함을 더해주었고 헝가리 단음계, C프리지안, G로크리안 선법들이 사용되었다. 이곡은 크게 A-B-A'의 세 부분으로 되어있으며 대칭적이고 균형있게 이루어져있다.
이상의 결과로부터 바르톡은 자신만의 독창적인 음악 양식 창출을 위하여 민속음악이라는 요소를 접목시켰으며 Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a는 그의 음악에서 중요한 요소인 민요의 음계와 독특한 리듬, 선율의 특징이 잘 드러난 독자적이고 개성있는 작품이라 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Two Romanian Dance Op. 8a, which were taken as the theme of this thesis, are the pieces for a graduation recital of this researcher. I came to be deeply impressed by the differentiated characteristic music and unique melodies from other composers while expressing unique rhythm and harmonic elements in folk music of Romania, with performing there pieces. I performed with the center on timbre, mood, and technical expression that are possessed by this music, and adopted them in order to deeply examine about musical world and detailed characteristics for which Bela Bartok had aimed to seek.
As Bela Bartok(1881-1945) was a typical Hugarian composer 20th century, he has collected and researched into folk music over lifetime, and researched and has classified scientifically and systematically by collecting folk musics in Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Turkey, and North Africa. He made the uniquely musical elements, which are possessed by folk music, as new acoustic world while performing folk music in huge volume. As Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a, which well show such musical world, are the music that were composed in 1909-1910 when was the next year of 1908 that he collected folk music of Romania for the first time, There are rough and percussive dance music, which are well indicated characteristics of modern and folk-music. There are composed of the 1st piece and the 2nd piece. These two pieces are technically difficult and colorful.
This study briefly described on Bela Bartok's lifetime and on folk-music characteristics of countries that he had been active in collecting. It examined characteristic elements, which are related to Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a among his works, which were composed prior to Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a, by dividing those into rhythm, melody, and harmony. Especially in this study, it is analyzed with the center on the use of particular intervals, and the transformation repetition of rhythm, sound and motives among characteristics, which are shown in Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a.
The conclusions, which were obtained through the detailed analysis, are as follows.
In Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a, the simple motives such as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th intervals play an important role in being varied and influencing over the whole of music. Ostinato figures often appear. The aim is to express strong rhythm by using accent in upbeat of the fourth beat in the one measure. Particular techniques are required such as quick progression and wide skip in octave, clear articulation, and dynamic expression in several steps. The use of changing meters was especially remarkable. It was used mainly at the part of changing themes. the end of phrase, and the end of link and change of themes. Also, through the use of the use of extensive register and octave displacement, the brilliance of music was added. Modes in Hungary minor scale, C Phrygian, C Lydian, and G Locrian modes were used. These works are composed of three parts largely in 'A-B-A,' and are formed symmetrically and with balance.
From the above results, Bela Bartok had integrated various elements called folk music in order to create his originative musical style. Two Romanian Dances Op. 8a can be said to be unique and individual work that are well revealed the characteristics in the musical scales, unique rhythms, and melodies of folk song, which are important elements in his music.
