<소현성록>과 <현몽쌍룡기>에 나타난 여성 인물 형상화의 계승과 변이 양상 = Study on Succession and Modification of Female Character Embodiment in <Sohyunseongrok> and <Hyunmongssangryonggi>

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

<Sohyunjseongrok> is a Korean full-length novel, created in relatively early period, which created embodiment of character with high degree of completion and narrative development, and <Hyunmongssangryonggi>, also, is a work which formed many readers of the time due to rapid narrative development and content composition with drawing power, researches have been actively conducted on the two works. In the existing researches, the discussion has been progressed by viewing the work from the feminist viewpoint in respect of the position of women in the family, or focusing on the embodiment of the females who are suffering under the patriarchal system. However, this discussion aimed at comprehending the discrimination point by comparing the female characters which take the absolute part of the two works with similar narration unit structure. While the male characters in <Sohyunseongrok> and <Hyunmongssangryonggi> display the type change in a degree of concretizing the narration and expansion and repetition of repetitive narration unit along with the length of quantity, the characteristic of the two works differed along with the embodiment of the female characters, who displayed big difference in the degree of growing environment or suffering hardship. This becomes a factor to reveal the differentiated point between <Sohyunseongrok>, which is presumed to be created in the 17th century, and <Hyunmongssangryonggi>, which is presumed to be created later, while both works are classified as the Korean full-length novel with the same samdaerok type. Accordingly, this research investigated the embodiment of authority in family which the mother of main characters has in both works, embodiment of women in the patriarchal social system which allowed polygamy, and how the desire of enjoyment class of Korean full-length novel appeared in the change aspect of the type of virtuous woman and the change of disciplinary degree for the wicked woman in both works by analyzing the embodiment of female characters of the two works according to the main character and major conflict aspect. In respect of authority in family, the 1st generation, madam Yang of <Sohyunseongrok> and madam Tae of <Hyunmongssangryonggi> each occupied the position as the highest adult of their family, however madam Yang appeared to exert influence in family with family authority as the mother, however madam Tae was embodied as a difference appearance, which showed the aspect that Confucian paternalism was intensified and established along with the time went to late Joseon, so that female position was gradually subordinated to male. Also, in the social atmosphere of late Joseon, which emphasized warning of wife being jealous of other women, regarding it as ruining the family, main female characters of <Sohyunseongrok> and <Hyunmongssangryonggi> appeared to obey by making fortunate costume in the situation that their husband receives another wife besides them, which revealed the sight of otherized female, also, which showed that the respect for virtuous women and promotion of virtuous consciousness prevailed in the overall Joseon period along with patriarchal female ethics, which prohibited jealousy by considering it a sin. However, compared to the main female character of <Sohyunseongrok>, main female character of <Hyunmongssangryonggi> was described as more active virtuous woman, which displayed the change to the female image which revealed the active appearance to show the fidelity and spirit for the husband, not merely the obeying virtuous women restricted only to fidelity, as time passed. Also, as the type of character of Korean full-length novel in late Joseon was diversified and the novel was widely read, the viewpoint on wicked women type character became more generous than before, while the viewpoint on patriarchal ethic consciousness and Confucian female image did not largely change, it was determined that <Hyunmongssangryonggi> more widely accepted humanistic emotion than <Sohyunseongrok>. This way, the earlier generation women``s life appearance was ideated, who lived by being educated to have the fidelity ideology by obeying the order of family as the best virtue that the women should prepare, and was succeeded from <Sohyunseongrok> to <Hyunmongssangryonggi>, however the female characters of the two works revealed difference in the position of women in family, appearance of virtuous women, and disciplinary method for wicked women, etc. This research determined that <Hyunmongssangryonggi> revealed changed social condition and more popularized readers’ demand than before, compared to the previous time which appeared in the work, compared to <Sohyunseongrok>, while it was based on the background of late Joseon which intensified Confucian ideology.
