組織發展(OD)의 理論에 관한 小考 : 韓國 行政組織에의 適用可能性을 中心으로 = Review of the Theory of Organization Development

Granted that each observers have a difference of view, the most prominent characteristic of modern period seems to be rapid social change. This rapid social change which have never been experienced in the past influences inevitably organizations in modern society. Therefore, modern organizations-although it vary in its magnitude, complexity, pursuing goal and so on-have problems to be solved for its survival in the changing society; those are the reduction to ineffectiveness of organization arising from discrepancy between individual goal and organization goal, and the increase of its capacity in order to adapt changing environment.
The theory of organization development (OD) which has developed as a strategy for organization's survival in changing society is beginning, but OD is a long way from having or relating to well grounded theory and practice in this more extended sphere.
The aim of this thesis is to examine natures, procedures, and techniques of OD and to review comprehensively the adaptability to administrative organization in Korea. This thesis consists of four parts including conclusion and it may be outlined quite simply as follows.
In the problem setting, the necessity and the scope of inquiry are indicated.
In chapter II with a view to clarity the characteristics of OD, the concept of OD is discussed and procedures of OD and various techniques for OD are to be examined with comparative general principles.
Chapter III deals with the adaptability of OD to Korea's administrative organization. Some problems concerning its adaptability are posed; those are the high centralization and authoritarian system to be find in Korea's administrative organization and personalism, hierarchism, and generalism as characteristics of administrative culture. After all, it seems difficult for us to stove problems above mentioned unless preconditions for OD is soled.
Finally to overcome these undesirable tendency in the near future some suggestions are proposed; those are the consistent efforts for shift from comparatively closed society to more open society, necessity of selective approach to adaption of OD.
