노인들의 종교 활동 및 신앙성숙도가 성공적 노화에 미치는 영향 = The Effect of Elderly Faith Maturty on Successful Aging

This study was thoroughly researched on 65-year-old and above senior citizens in Daegu metropolitan city, Gyeongsan city, Yeongcheon city, Gumi city, Chilgok county, Dalseong county and Seongju county to analyze the effect of the elderly faith maturity on successful aging. The study was done from the 819 surveys, whose rate of return was 97.3% from 841 surveys, from June 5th 2008 to October 21st 2008. First, in the analysis on successful aging according to general aspects, the psychological aspect was marked 4.06, fairly high score. Women, Catholics, ones having same religious faith with the spouse turned out to have higher psychological aspect scores. The less educated or the better-off financially or the healthier, the higher psychological marks they got. The social aspect was marked 3.92, relatively high score. Women, Protestants, ones having same religious faith with the spouse turned out to have higher social aspect scores. The better-off financially or the healthier, the higher social aspect marks they got. The cognitive aspect was marked 3.88, fairly high score. Women, Protestants, ones having same religious faith with the spouse turned out to have higher social aspect scores. The more educated or the better-off financially or the healthier, the higher social aspect marks they got. The results show that religious consciousness has significant place when it comes to phsychological aspect, which mean that the religious consciousness helps people feel more content with their life personally. Second, concerning successful aging, the regression analysis came up with the correlations between the factors and the psychological or physical aspects; consciousness (b=0.183) and health (b=0.261) turned out to be the most influential factors on psychological (consciousness) and physical (health) aspect respectively. Being financially well-off (b=0.253) was the most influential factor on social aspects, and health (b=0.227) was the most influential factor on cognitive aspect. This, even though it shows religious activities and faith maturity are not the considerable factors in successful aging, supports the hypothesis that religious activities counteract the effects of the constrains of financial well-being and other factors which anr significantly inportant to successful aging. It is due to the fact that faith aspects, such as receptiveness, openness, participation, directiveness, friendship, consciousness, relation, maral, is matured by religious activities.
