17세기 한시 수사법의 일면: 무하당(無何堂) 홍주원(洪柱元)을 중심으로 = A Facet of 17th Century Chinese Poetry rhetoric -Focused on Muhadang(無何堂) Hong Ju-won(洪柱元)

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고는 17세기에 활동한 무하당(無何堂) 홍주원(洪柱元, 1606~1672)의 한시를 통해 17세기 한시 수사법의 일면을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다.
17세기는 시풍을 특정하기 어려운 문제적 시기이기도 하며, 18세기 시단 변화의 발단이라는 측면에서 주목할 필요가 있다. 따라서 17세기의 경우는 다양한 계층의 개별 작가들의 연구가 보다 집적되어 외연을 확장시킬 필요성이 요구된다. 이와 같은 문제의식을 바탕으로 본고에서는 우선적으로 홍주원이라는 인물에 주목했다.
홍주원은 시인으로서의 재능과 능력을 당대와 후대에서 충분히 인정을 받고 있었다. 이에 18세기 혁신적 변화에 앞서 시풍의 다양성과 개성이 태동하던 17세기에 활동하며 2,000여 수가 넘는 한시를 남긴 그의 작품을 감정 표현의 방식, 조어(造語), 구성 등의 수사법을 고찰함으로써 17세기 수사법의 일면을 논의해 보고자 했다.
홍주원이 사적으로 창작한 한시의 특징을 갈음하자면 크게 두 가지이다. 첫 번째는 수사적 기교를 통한 일상어의 문학적 형상화이다. 첫 번째로, 전고(典故)의 활용이 적다는 것이다. 혹 전고를 활용했다 하더라도 그 단어가 지닌 배경적 사건에 대한 이해 없이 시인의 의도를 파악하는 데에 무리가 없었다. 두 번째로 벽자(僻字)나 어려운 표현들보다 일상에서 흔히 쓰는 쉬운 글자를 위주로 조어(造語)하고 있다는 점이다. 이는 일상적인 언어를 수사학적 기교로 단련하여 문학적 언어로 재탄생 시킨 전형적인 예시라고 할 수 있다. 이 과정에서 하나의 표현으로 여러 의미가 파생되기도 다양한 해석의 여지가 발생하기도 한다. 그러나 홍주원 한시의 경우 독자의 입장에서 감상의 자율성을 부여하되 시인의 중심적인 의도를 벗어나 오독하는 가능성을 최소화 시키고자 하는 수사법을 구현하고 있다.
두 번째로 회화적·감성적 수사 등 당시풍의 경향성을 보이고 있다는 점이다. 시인에게 포착된 경물들을 다양한 표현기법들을 통해 생동감 있게 묘사하고 있으며, 자신의 감정을 사물과의 대비를 통해 극대화 시켜 표출하고 있는 측면에서 감성적 특징이 돋보인다. 이러한 경향성은 홍주원 한시의 연원이라고 할 수 있는 이정구를 위시한 외가에서의 유년 시절 수학으로 인한 것으로 판단된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The primary objective of this study is to scrutinize a facet of the prosodic framework within 17th-century Chinese poetry, specifically through an exploration of the poetic corpus authored by Muhadang Hong Ju-won(洪柱元, 1606–1672), a prominent figure of that era. The 17th century presents a multifaceted challenge in terms of delineating an unequivocal trajectory in poetic trends, yet it stands as a pivotal epoch instigating the transformative shifts observed in 18th-century poetic paradigms. Within the contextual parameters of the 17th century, there arises a necessity to conflate scholarly inquiries across diverse strata of individual poets, thereby amplifying the horizons of scholarly comprehension. Mindful of these considerations, this exposition is predominantly oriented toward the comprehensive appraisal of Hong Ju-won.
Hong Ju-won was hailed for his poetic acumen and aptitude both contemporaneously and in ensuing periods. Accordingly, the present discourse delves into the expansive body of his compositions, encompassing a formidable anthology of over 2,000 poems, predominantly authored during the 17th century. This temporal juncture bore witness to the burgeoning proliferation of heterogeneous and distinct poetic idioms, presaging the subsequent innovative trajectories of the 18th century. Through meticulous dissection of his oeuvre encompassing aspects of emotive articulation, novel semantic constructs, structural formations, and allied prosodic techniques, the current study seeks to engage in a scholarly dialogue pertaining to a specific facet of the 17th-century prosodic framework within poetry.
Two salient attributes characterize the poetic opus crafted by Hong Juwon. Foremost, it encapsulates the literary transmutation of vernacular language through adroit prosodic craftsmanship. Noteworthy is the scant recourse to classical allusions; even when invoked, these allusions do not impose onerous hurdles in deciphering the poet's intended meanings, owing to the limited reliance on contextual historical events. Additionally, the corpus predominantly integrates commonplace and uncomplicated logographs, eschewing obscure lexical entities or intricate syntactical configurations. This constitutes a quintessential illustration of the paradigmatic process whereby everyday vernacular metamorphoses into a literary dialect, buoyed by the scaffolding of prosodic techniques. This creative metamorphosis inherently ushers in manifold connotations within a single locution, thereby engendering a multiplicity of interpretative nuances. It is, however, imperative to underscore that the poetic compositions of Hong Juwon are characterized by prosodic strategies that not only afford readers interpretative autonomy but also curtail the prospects of misapprehension, thereby orchestrating a harmonious equilibrium between reader agency and the preservation of the auteur's central intentions.
A secondary discernment emerges within these poems in the form of prevailing stylistic inclinations emblematic of the era, imbued with vividness and emotive resonance. The poet adeptly captures the essence of depicted scenes through an array of expressive modalities, thereby heightening affective resonances via deliberate juxtapositions with the portrayed subjects. This dimension serves to accentuate the emotional tenor inherent within the poetic corpus, with resonances of this stylistic tenor traced back to the poet's early mathematical pedagogy, a pedagogical trajectory catalyzed by his maternal lineage.
