지적장애 특수학교에서 수학교과를 가르치는 저경력 교사의 실천적 지식 형성에 대한 자문화기술지 = An Autoethnography on Building Practical Knowledge of Novice Teachers Who Teach Math in Special School for Students with Intellectual Disabilities

This study closely examines an experience teaching middle school math at a special school for students with intellectual disabilities(SID) by using an autoethnography and investigates the practical knowledge obtained through such an experience by teachers with short teaching careers. To achieve this objective, two questions were posed: “What does a teacher with a short teaching career experience when teaching math at a special school for SID?” and “How is practical knowledge obtained by a teacher with a short teaching career while teaching math at a special school for SID?” The research findings are summarized as follows. First, based on the experience of teaching middle school math at a special school for SID, I could redesign the math class by reorganizing the curriculum and by exploring and implementing various methods of improving it, including a class centered on themes, a participatory class for students, and a class for students with varying levels of aptitude for math. Second, based on accumulated experience teaching middle school math at a special school for SID, I could strengthen literacy regarding math curricula and, accordingly, build practical knowledge and improve the specialty of the class through my design of math curricula and a reflective attitude toward my class. Through this research, I could draw implications from the practical knowledge a teacher with a short teaching career obtains through the experience of teaching middle school math at a special school for SID to cultivate the specialty of a class for special school teachers with a short teaching career and to enhance the quality of math classes at special schools. These findings are expected to provide the preliminary data needed to strengthen the specialty of a class for special school teachers with short teaching careers and to improve the quality of math classes for SID.
