중국 소수민족 전통축제가 지역사회 발전에 미치는 영향 연구 - 사바제의 민족 정체성과 브랜드 자산의 매개효과를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

중국은 대도시를 중심으로 경제성장을 이루면서 지역 내의 불균형이 심화되었으며, 특히 소수민족 인구의 감소와 더불어 고유의 민속 문화가 점진적으로 소멸하거나 약화 되는 추세이다. 중국 중심부에 위치한 향시(湘西) 투가족묘족자치주(이하 자치주)는 55 개 소수민족 중에서도 가장 지역적 특색이 뚜렷한 자치주로서, 그 보존 가치가 매우 높다. 본 연구의 목적은 소수민족 보존과 전통문화 확산에 대한 관심이 증가하는 상황 에서 민속축제의 실효성을 실증적으로 확인하는 데 있다. Chatman의 스토리텔링 맵을 적용하여 민족정체성이론(MEIM)과 브랜드 자산 이론을 근거로 사바제, 민족 정체성, 지 역 브랜드 자산, 그리고 지역사회 발전 간의 관계를 연구모형으로 설정하였다. 연구대 상은 중국 투가족이 집중적으로 거주하는 향시투가족묘족자치주 내의 투가족 지역주민 357명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 그 결과, 사바제의 스토리는 지역사회 발전 에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 반면, 사바제의 표현은 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나 타났다. 또한 사바제의 스토리와 표현은 민족 정체성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤으나, 이 를 통한 지역사회 발전에는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 그러나 사바제의 스토 리와 표현이 지역 인지도와 지역 이미지의 개선을 통해 지역사회 발전에 긍정적으로 역할을 하였으며, 특히 지역 이미지 개선의 중요성이 강조되었다. 본 연구는 투가족이 라는 소수민족을 대상으로 전통축제인 사바제의 특성을 스토리와 표현으로 세분화하여 지역사회 발전과의 관계를 실증적으로 분석한 점에서 학문적 의의가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As China's economic growth has centered on large cities, regional imbalances have intensified, leading to the gradual disappearance or weakening of unique folk cultures, especially among ethnic minority populations. The Tujia Miao Autonomous Prefecture (hereafter referred to as the Autonomous Prefecture) in Xiangxi, located in central China, is the most locally distinctive ethnic minority autonomous region among the 55 ethnic minorities in the country and has high conservation value. The purpose of this study is to empirically test the effectiveness of folk festivals in the context of increasing attention to the preservation of ethnic minorities and the spread of traditional culture. Therefore, the research model applies Chatman’s storytelling maps, which have been utilized in research on traditional festivals to organize the characteristics of Sabaje into specific variables of story and expression. It establishes the relationship between Sabaje, ethnic identity, local brand equity, and community development based on the theory of ethnic identity (MEIM) and brand equity. The study surveyed 357 Tujia residents in Xiangxi Tujia Miao Autonomous Prefecture, a region with a high concentration of Tujia in China. The results showed that the story of the Sabaje has a direct impact on community development, while the representation of the Sabaje has an indirect effect. Additionally, while the stories and representations of Sabaje positively influenced ethnic identity, they did not have a significant impact on community development. It was concluded that Sabaje stories and representations positively affect community development by improving local awareness and image, with the role of enhancing the local image being particularly important. This study holds academic value as it is an empirical analysis of the characteristics of Sabaje, a traditional festival, through its stories and expressions, and considers ethnic identity and local brand assets about community development. However, given that the subjects of this study are ethnic minorities in a specific region of China and that local governments may have different management directions, the results of this study may have limitations in generalizing to other ethnic minority festivals.
