개별 방언의 자료 정리와 경어법 연구 = On a View of an Honorific System of Korean

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present paper is supposed to show the processes how the data collected from the regional dialects of Korean have been treated to contribute to writing a thesis. Those data are concerned for the Korean Honorific System, but our discussion has been restricted especially to the subject honorific element gyeo(ge/gi/i. 겨/게/기/이), some topics related to the hearer honorific system, and hearer honorific forms yo(요) and ye(예) in Gyeongnam regional dialect.
The gyeo, as one of the currently used elements in Korean subject honorific system, has a distributional characteristic, located after the ending -eo(-어) in its general usage, but it is sometimes integrated directly after the stem It could date back to '在/□' in Idu or Gugyeol diachronically, and it could be said to function as a stern, a prefinal ending, a stem of dependent verbs in Goryeo Seokdok- gugyeol.
The Gyeo as a stem was used in the form of 'gyeosyosyeo(겨쇼서), gyeoso(겨소), gyeoaapsicla(겨ᄋᆞᆸ시다)' through Middle and Modern Korean period, leaving its remnant in the honorific verb 'gyeosi-(-겨시-)'. But under the major circumstances, its function has been changed into grammatical ones, so the gyeo shown in the current Korean regional dialects is the consequence of its grammaticalization.
As far as a sentence final ending is concerned, we have shown how we could process the related data to make a thesis on the establishment of the proper degrees in hearer honorific system, the desirable selection of data, and its diachronic explanation. For the first topic, i.e. the proper hierarchy of hearer honorific system, we have pointed out with concrete linguistic materials that it should differ according to the grammatical system of the given dialect. For the second topic, i. e. the desirable selection of data, we have critically pointed out that in some papers they mistakenly describe as if the haso-style(하소체), hapsyo-style(합쇼체), and hasipsio-style(하십시오체) were currently used in Gyeonggi regional dialect. The above mentioned speech styles are in fact scarcely used in that area. For the last topic, i. e. the diachronic explanation, we have shown with an example of haso-style(하소체) in Gyeongnam regional dialect that the more we consider its historical aspects, the better we can explain linguistic facts.
Lastly we have pointed out that in Cbangwon regional dialect there are two forms of ye(예) and yo(요) equivalent to standard language's form of yo(요), and that the usages between ye(예) and yo(요) in that dialect are decided by many different social factors.
