The foundation of ‘Banjeong’(反正)'s spirit is ‘MinBon’(民本 ; a spirit that prioritizes the lives of the people), which is tolerated when the previous king abandons MinBon politics. Banjeong's goal is to realize the WangDo through ‘AnMin’(安民 ; providing for the welfare of the people) and ‘YeGyo’(禮敎 ; leading the people through teaching by the Ye), and Banjeong's legitimacy depends on the king's will for MinBon politics and the legitimacy of the process of becoming a king. The evaluation of Injo Banjeong should also be based on the government's will and achievements in MinBon-based AnMin and YeGyo. The Gwanghaegun government failed in AnMin and YeGyo politics. In domestic politics, the government failed due to unreasonable the construction of palaces and undue wealth formation of the king and his aides. In addition, he punished numerous treasonous trials, killed his brother and dethroned his mother, and his diplomatic relations with both Ming and Qing. so Gwanghaegun lost his position as the head of a country's YeGyo. By the way, The Injo Banjeong government also lacked the AnMin policy and the YeGyo policy. Injo did not implement a groundbreaking AnMin policy, did not abolish the Royal Property Office(內需司), and most of Banjeong's contributors (功臣) had been amassed. And Although Injo Banjeong aimed to punish the atrocities of 'fratricide'(殺親) and 'betrayal of Ming China' (背明), which had become fatal weaknesses under Gwanghaegun’s rule as the person responsible for diplomacy with YeGyo, and sought to restore ethical order(事大), Injo's government failed in all of these objectives. Injo himself betrayed moral principles by executing Gwanghaegun’s crown prince and Prince Inseong(仁城君). Injo should have solidified the legitimacy of his royal authority through the implementation of righteous rule, but instead, he sought to justify his kingship based on the support of Inmok and the posthumous elevation of his father[元宗]. Moreover, he needed to prioritize the welfare of the people and prepare for the invasion of the Qing Dynasty, but he failed in all these matters. Therefore, Injo Banjeong was insufficient to be truly considered a Banjeong.
