식민지 무속담론과 문학의 변증법 -김동리 무속소설 「무녀도」, 「허덜풀네」, 「달」을 중심으로- = The Dialectic of Discourse of Shamanism in Colonization Period and Literature -Focusing on Kim Dong Lee`s Shamanism Novels-

This thesis contains the aspect of discourse of shamanism as Japanese Colony regulation authority in 1930s and discourse of shamanism as discourse of nation confronting and drawing one another. Also it aims to clarify how this complex and anitinomic mechanism is expressed as unique dialectical aspect in Kim Dong Lee`s literature. Kim Dong Lee`s shamanism novels are closely related to the effort of finding the nation`s identity by resettling the original form of Chosun`s tradition by negatively resisting Japanese colonization. The process of implying new interpretation of shamanism was preceded not religiously but politically. In other words, the shamanism of Chosun can be seen as selective tradition by political ideology and not a religion/tradition peculiar to Chosun. The shamanism that`s expressed in Kim Dong Lee`s novels separates Chosun`s own genuineness and creates by beautifying and mythologizing. This process shows the restoration to universality or universalism, and consolidation of transcendence through methods like beautification and mythycization. Here the significant medium that converges the characteristics that each object carries to universality is an ideal of destiny. A limited creature destiny has close relationship with human`s desire to overcome the recognition of humans having to inevitably face the fear. Kim Dong Lee mysteriously and fantastically expresses the aspect of fear overcoming mythically by agreeing human life and nature life. From this perspective, Kim Dong Lee`s Shamanism novels are an integrated narration that has psychological basis called emotion or sentiment. An integrated narration that merges and identifies each object is radically a tie of sympathy and not just a casual tie in modern perspective. Through psychological mechanism called a tie of sympathy, it takes the action of erasing and making the characteristics of nation, race, and individual to be post-historical. Furthermore when this relation of sympathy becomes theoretically systematized and ensures logicality, it settles as a system of solid social belief, and can be used as logic of theoretically justifying and rationalizing the subject of authority in the society. So to speak, the emphasis on universality, universalism, humanism that based on a tie of `sympathy` is problematic because it can work as a power of monistic integration and suppress the contradiction and irrational situation of current system in a place where the society is unequal in terms of authority like Japanese colony government system. This is the radical motive of duality and paradoxical characteristic that Kim Dong Lee`s literature acquires in the process of interaction between Japanese Colonial society and historical situation.
