김수영의 시간과 시의 비/존재론 = (Non-)Ontology of the Poem and Time of Kim Soo-Young

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines that the time in Kim Soo-young’s poems is the form of his existence, and how this form of existence relates to the ethics of love shown in his later works. Regarding the April Revolution greatly inspired Kim’s literary work, the Korean War has not been in the center of the previous research on Kim and hiswork. It is partly because the poet did not often mention the war. By demonstrates that the April Revolution and the Korean War are the repetitive experiences for him, this research further discusses the form of Kim’s existence.
For Kim, the Korean war is an experience of the past, but also a current experience of the past-future that he could experience after the April Revolution; it is the time of the past-present that had existed being concealed so could not be made present. In other words, the time of Kim’s, as a form of existence is unique. The future time as “the time of (non-)existence that does not exist now” is the past time that he lived. When the concealed past time is made present, the time of(non-)existence appears to the present as a source of being. Thus, Kim’s poetic thinking expressed in his languages of “freedom”, “death”, “love” is not based on the “recovery” or overcome from the scars of the war or the failure of the revolution, rather based on his (non-)ontological poetic thinking that draws these all times of the past to the time that is “written” in the existence of Kim’s.
The poet was absorbed in Heidegger’s philosophy because their ways of thinking overlapped this way. Kim’s poetics does not begin with the experience of loss, but with the approval of the theory that our lives have nothing to “recover”, our beings have nothing to lose, and the world does not give any grounds to tell humans from animals. However, he was able to find the ethics of love like a miracle since the existential experience of the abyss of being, which has nothing and no meaning like a desert and, was the origin and source of his poem.
