孝 思想硏究(Ⅰ) = The thought of filial piety(Ⅰ)

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

From ancients time on more than 80 percent of the population in Korea has engaged in farming. Accordingly, the community life in villages has been the traditional basis of the nation.
The ideas and way of life in village have been passed on to the present.
The idea of life in korean village communities fused with their unique religion(shamanism), Confucianism, Buddism, Taoism and Chirtianity or European thought lately.
The idea of life in village communities is so fused, that is not reasonable to research the thought of filial piety in view of confucianism. Accordingly, this is a report aimed at researching of the thought of filial piety in village communities' sense.
The author recognize that the thought of filial piety is not only morality in family but also ideology of tradionall nation. Someone said that confucian filial piety was first introduced and adopted during the Silla dynasty, but the firm foundation of Confucianism was adopted as the main political ideology of the central government.
Therefore, the filial piety thought was propagated through the powers of the dynasty.
The filial piety was not only very important duty in family, but also duty for the king. there were various kinds prizes offered by king in traditional nations. and there was the political thought that filial piety to one's parents was a way of fostering loyalty to the king.
There is not subordinate elements in idea of the filial piety but way of filial duties are subordinate One. for example, everybody should respect their parents, not as an equal being, but as an inferior to them. everyone should always be ready to do every kind of chore, such as folding up neatly their quilts and pads, delivering them basins of water to bathe their faces and hands and, when they want to move elsewhere, helping them. In doing these, you should figure out their intentions before they mention them and make them contented.
In short, the author's opinion is that the idea of the filial piety is not the subordinate one and harmonized with living idea of human being. Also that is idea of finishing off the human life.
