음식문화콘텐츠의 스토리텔링 전략과 재현 방식 연구 KBS 다큐멘터리 <누들로드>를 중심으로 = A Study on the Storytelling Strategy and Reproduction Method of Food culture Contents With KBS documentary Noodle Road

Th is paper analyzed how the documentary, a cultural content, can embody the storytelling of the food culture, through the Noodle Road, a program belonging to the Window of Asia as a KBS documentary series. Among the Korean broadcast programs focusing on eating and cooking broadcast, the <Noodle Road> is a very heterogeneous fool documentary, because the documentary fi eld usually treats food as a material used for following the contemporary fashion and the food documentary is often negatively valued. Th e Noodle Road is, however, evaluated as the documentary representing for KBS and a superior work, among documentaries using the food cultures as their materials, since this work did not pay attention to mere tastes of food, recipes and the contemporary fashion, but attempted to entirely investigate the human culture, based on the birth, transformation and distribution of food. Noodle Road is described as the journey process in which the noodle, the hero, is served at table, across the tables in the whole world, including the cultivation of wheat, a stuff used to cook noodles; the process in which the milling technique for transforming the wheat to fl our was developed; and each of regional characteristics allowing noodles to be varied; and the trading process in which the noodles have been transmitted to all countries in the world. Th is process of journey is reproduced as a fi lm through active split screen eff ects and computer graphics and exhibits both diachronic and synchronic fl ow of the noodle on a screen. In particular, the speed created by shorts, which cannot be shown in general documentaries increases audiences' concentration on the work, while decreasing or increasing the play speeds in the screen allows them to feel the chewy texture of noodles through the unique rhythmic sense in the screen. Th is paper thus adds the general story about the development of human civilization to the ordinary food culture of the noodle which has been just enjoyed as a routine meal and attempts to signify it as a material for emotional experience.
