유학생의 한국 문화 적응 스트레스 및 학교생활 만족도 분석 —베트남, 몽골, 우즈베키스탄 학생을 중심으로— = Analysis of Acculturation Stress and Academic Satisfaction of International Students —Focusing on Students from Vietnam, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan—

The purpose of this study is to understand the reality and relationship between acculturation stress and school life satisfaction of international students and help them have a successful study abroad life in Korea. For this purpose, a survey was conducted on cultural adaptation stress and school life satisfaction among 139 students from Vietnam, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan. The finding reveal that, First, the acculturation stress of students from Vietnam, Mongolia, and Uzbekistan was not high, with an average score of 2.18 out of 5. Second, acculturation stress showed a statistically significant difference only depending on whether or not one worked part-time. However, the acculturation stress subfactor showed significant differences by nationality in all factors except the guilt factor. In other words, international students from Mongolia and Uzbekistan had higher stress scores than international students from Vietnam. Third, academic satisfaction was showing relatively high satisfaction. However, by nationality, school life satisfaction was statistically significantly higher in Uzbekistan and Mongolia than in Vietnam. Fourth, acculturation stress did not show any correlation with academic satisfaction, but showed a negative correlation with satisfaction with administrative support and services satisfaction. In other words, it was confirmed that acculturation stress was lower when students were satisfied with the school’s administrative support or student support services rather than with academic satisfaction. These research results suggest that in order to reduce international students’ acculturation stress, efforts are needed to increase satisfaction with overall school life, such as school administrative support and services.
