Accounting I an information system. More precisely, it is the measurement methodology and communication system designed to produce selected quantitative data about an entity engaged in economic activity.
Form the very earliest times, the levying and collection of taxes by governments has called for record keeping and reports. Governmental reporting requirements have served since antiquity to reinforce business needs for accounting systems and controls. Clay tablets used by Babylonian businessmen to record their sales and money lending some four thousand years age are still in existence. Egyptian papyri describing tax collections before 1000 B.C. are on exhibit in museums. The Greeks and Romans had well developed record-keeping system, especially for government affairs.
The first double-entry system of bookkeeping evolved during the Middle Ages, and there are extant sets of double-records prepared in Genoa in 1340. The earliest systematic description of the double-entry procedure was provided by the Franciscan friar Luca da Bargo Pacioli in 1494 in his book, "Summa de arismetica, geometria proportion et proportionalita." Double entry bookkeeping is thus considered to have originated in Italy during the Middle Ages.
The creation of a bookkeeping system in Korea, however, dates some 200 years earlier, to the peak of the Koryo dynasty, the most creative and flourishing period of Korean history.
Later records of bookkeeping practices include an explanatory book titled, "Sagae Songdo Bookkeeping Principles," by Hyun Byung-Ju, Published in Seoul, 1916, and some bookkeeping records of the Taehan Chonil Bank (originally of the present Korean Commercial Bank), 1899-1905.
The pre-paradigm period is the accounting principles and Financial Statements Standards established by a sub-committee of the Finance and Banking Committee under the Ministry of Finance in 1957 in Korea.
Public accounting system of Korea was originated in 1950 and the Korean Institute of Certified Public Accounting established December of 1954 which was delayed because of the Korean War.
Korean Accounting Association was established on October 22, 1973 and the first issue of periodical "Accounting Review" was published in March of 1977. And the purpose of KAA is, based on the clause 2, "to study Korean accounting decipline and develop the field of education, and promote mutual friendship between member of the association."
