인천 지역 중학교 장애학생의 자유학기활동 참여현황 및 참여지원에 대한 특수학급교사의 인식 = A Survey on the Current Status of and Special Classroom Teachers’ Perceptions on Participation of Students with Disabilities in the Free Semester Activity

The purpose of this study was to investigate current status of participation of students with disabilities in the free semester activity and special classroom teachers’ perceptions on supports for the students’ participation in order to identify ways to provide appropriate supports for implementing free semester activity linked to inclusive education. For this purpose, survey was conducted for a total of 112 special classroom teachers in all 117 middle schools’ special classroom in incheon.
The results of this study are summarized as follows. In terms of the current status of participation of students with disabilities in the free semester activity, more than half of students who participated in the free semester activity were in the full inclusion settings and the contents of participation were reported by all research participants for career search activity. When it comes to special classroom teachers’ perceptions and needs on participation for students with disabilities in the free semester activity, first, special classroom teachers perceived that they were responsible for providing support to students with disabilities to participate in the free semester activity. They also reported that the average of total importance of support contents that special classroom teachers can provide to the teachers in charge of each program was above the normal level On the other hand, the performance was below the normal level. In addition, as a result of paired sample t-test, there was a statistically significant difference between the importance of support content and the performance for it. Second, in terms of outcome of participation, it was evaluated that the free semester activity was above the normal level for students with disabilities. Third, in the section on needs for promoting participation of students with disabilities and appropriate supports for their active participation, the level of total needs was above the normal level, confirming the needs of the special classroom teachers for improving the free semester activity. Finally, there are significant difference among the participants' needs according to the background variables such as teaching career experience and special class career experience. Based on the results of this study, implications for the meaningful participation of students with disabilities placed in the general school with their peers in the free semester activity were provided.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 통합교육과 연계된 자유학기제 운영을 위한 적절한 지원 방안을 모색하고자 인천 지역 중학교 전체 117개 특수학급의 교사 중 총 112명을 대상으로 자체 개발한 설문지를 사용하여 장애학생의 자유학기활동 참여현황 및 참여지원에 대한 인식 및 요구를 조사하였다. 수합된 설문 자료를 분석한 결과, 첫째, 참여현황과 관련하여 자유학기제 교육과정을 적용 받고 있는 과반수의 학생이 완전 통합으로 자유학기활동에 참여하였으며 진로탐색활동에 모든 장애학생이 참여한 것으로 보고되었다. 둘째, 참여지원 및 성과에 대한 연구 참여자의 인식과 요구를 분석한 결과 대부분의 연구 참여자가 장애학생이 자유학기활동에 참여하는데 있어 특수교사가 지원을 제공하여야 한다는 데에 책임을 느끼고 있었으며 특수교사가 각 프로그램의 담당교사에게 제공할 수 있는 지원내용이 보통 이상의 수준에서 중요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 그러나 장애학생 자유학기활동 참여지원에 대한 중요도와 실행도의 차이를 분석한 결과, 중요도에 비해 실행도가 통계적으로 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 또한 자유학기활동은 장애학생에게 보통 이상의 성과가 있었다고 평가되었으며 전반적으로 특수교사들은 보통 이상의 수준에서 자유학기활동 개선에 대한 요구를 가지고 있었다. 마지막으로 이와 같은 개선요구는 교직경력과 특수학급근무경력 변인에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로 일반학교에 배치된 장애학생이 또래와 함께 자유학기활동에 의미 있게 참여하는데 요구되는 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.
