박수근의 미술작품을 활용한 한국문화교육 방안 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한국의 미술작품을 활용하여 한국어 학습자들을 위한 한국문화교육의 구체적인 방안을 고찰하는 것이 주된 목적이다. 특히 한국어교육을 위한 문화를 교수하는 것보다 문화 자체를 교수하여 학습자들이 한국문화를 깊이 이해하고 나아가 한국인들과 함께 협력할 수 있도록 하는 한국문화교육에 대한 구체적이고 실질적인 방안을 위해, 본고에서는 한국적인 정서와 서민들의 일상생활을 미술작품의 주요 소재로 삼았던 한국을 대표하는 위대한 화가인 박수근의 미술작품을 가지고 구체적인 한국문화수업의 사례를 구성해보았다.
이를 위한 본 연구의 방법은 첫째, 한국문화교육의 내용 선정과 분류를 위한 방법으로 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 문헌고찰을 통해 문화능력 중심 한국문화교육의 필요성에 대한 이론적 배경을 제시하였으며, 또한 박수근의 미술작품들을 파노프스키의 도상해석학적 관점을 가지고 분석하여 권오경(2006)의 성취 · 행동 · 관념문화로 분류하였다.
둘째, 본 연구에서는 한국문화수업의 방법으로 플립 러닝과 온라인 수업을 적절하게 블렌딩하여 제시하였는데, 최근 코로나 사태로 인하여 온라인 수업에 대한 중요성이 대두되고 있을 뿐만 아니라 한국어 학습자들의 대다수가 해외에 거주하고 있기 때문에 이러한 한국어 학습자들이 한국에서 직접 교육을 받을 수 없다는 점을 고려하면 이에 대한 대책이 시급한 실정이므로 이러한 시대적 상황을 고려함과 동시에, 기존의 교수-학습 과정을 뒤집어서 거꾸로 수업을 진행하기에 학습자들이 더욱 적극적으로 수업에 참여하게 되어 학습 효과를 더욱 강화할 수 있는 장점을 지닌 플립 러닝을 적용하게 되었다.
3장에서 선정한 성취문화를 위한 한국문화수업의 내용은 ‘백의민족’과 ‘한복’, 행동문화를 위한 한국문화수업의 내용은 ‘집단 간 거리감’, 관념문화를 위한 한국문화수업의 내용은 ‘관용’과 ‘순리’였으며, 이러한 내용과 앞에서 제시한 연구 방법을 토대로 4장에서는 박수근의 미술작품을 활용한 한국문화수업에 대한 사례를 성취 · 행동 · 관념문화 순으로 각 문화 유형 별로 제시하였다. 또한 본 연구에서는 플립 러닝을 기반으로 하여 온라인 수업을 함께 블렌딩한 한국문화수업의 사례를 제시하였기 때문에, 플립 러닝의 선 학습 후 활동의 원칙을 잘 따르고 있어 플립 러닝의 이점을 더욱 효과적으로 얻을 수 있는 플립 러닝의 PARTNER 모형을 기반으로 수업의 절차를 사전과제 → 발표 · 토의 수업 → 핵심 요약 강의 → 성찰 순으로 재구성하였다.
또한 미술작품을 통해 한국문화에 대한 이질감을 극복하고 이해하고 수용할 수 있게 되어 한국문화를 좀 더 객관적으로 볼 수 있는 문화능력을 신장할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이 본고에서 제시한 구체적인 한국문화수업의 최종적인 목표이기에, 이를 위해 각 문화 유형별로 다양한 학습 활동을 제시하여 한국어 학습자들이 한국문화에 좀 더 흥미를 느끼고 학습할 수 있도록 하기 위해 미술작품과 관련된 다양한 사전과제 및 발표 · 토의 활동도 제시하였다.
따라서 이러한 내용을 토대로 진행한 본 연구의 의의를 언급하자면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 본 연구에서는 한국인들에게 ‘민족의 화가’로 일컬어지고 있는 박수근의 미술작품을 활용하여 한국어 학습자들을 위한 한국문화교육의 방안을 모색해보았으며, 또한 이를 성취 · 행동 · 관념문화 각 문화 유형별로 내용을 선정하여 한국문화수업의 구체적이고 실질적인 사례를 구성해보았다는 점에서 의의를 가진다고 볼 수 있다.
둘째, 최근 코로나 사태로 인해 온라인을 활용한 비대면 수업에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있는 실정이기에 이러한 시대적 상황과 더불어 주로 외국에 거주하는 한국어 학습자들을 고려했다는 점, 그리고 자칫하면 쉽게 지루해질 수 있는 온라인 수업의 단점을 플립 러닝을 응용함으로써 이를 보완하고자 하는 시도를 했다는 점에서 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
셋째, 최근 한류열풍이 점점 더 고조되면서 한류 콘텐츠나 한국어를 넘어 다양한 한국문화 콘텐츠의 밑거름이 되는 한국의 역사 및 예술문화에도 관심을 가지는 외국인들이 점점 늘어나고 있으며, 이러한 현 시대적 트렌드에 발맞추어 본 연구에서는 한국의 미술작품을 활용한 한국문화교육의 방안을 제시한 연구라는 점에서 의의가 있다.
이러한 미술작품을 활용한 한국문화교육은 좀 더 흥미롭고 다채로운 한국문화를 접하고 학습하기를 원하는 많은 한국어 학습자들에게 도움이 될 것이며, 뿐만 아니라 전 세계의 많은 사람들이 한류를 넘어 다양하고 수준 높은 한국문화를 접하고 인식할 수 있도록 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to consider the specific measures of Korean culture education for Korean language learners using Korean artworks. This study constructed detailed examples of Korean culture classes with the artworks of Park Soo-Keun, a great artist representing Korea who used Korean sentiment and everyday life as the main subjects of his works so that this study is able to suggest specific and practical measures for Korean culture education that allow learners to understand Korean culture deeply and further cooperate with Koreans, rather than teaching culture for Korean language education.
To this end, this study first proposed theoretical background on the need for culture education in Korea through literature review, one of the qualitative research methods for selecting and classifying contents of Korean culture education. In addition, Park Soo-Keun's artworks were analyzed with Iconology of Panofsky and classified into achievement culture, behavior culture and ideological culture of Kwon, Oh-Kyung (2006).
Second, in this study, flipped learning and online classes were presented after appropriate blending as methods of Korean culture classes as measures are urgently needed considering not only the importance of online classes recently emerged due to COVID-19, but also the fact that the majority of Korean language learners live abroad so they cannot receive direct education in Korea. With consideration of contemporary situations, flipped learning has also been applied because it has the advantage of allowing learners to participate more actively in classes and further strengthen their learning effects because it reverses the existing teaching-learning process.
Chapter 3 chose ‘people of white clothes’ and ‘hanbok’ as Korean culture classes for achievement culture, ‘intergroup distancing’ as Korean culture classes for behavioral culture, ‘tolerance’ and ‘submission to reason’ as Korean culture classes for ideological culture. Based on these contents and research methods, Chapter 4 presented examples of Korean culture classes using artworks of Park Soo-Keun in the order of achievement, behavior, and ideology. Furthermore, this study presented an example of Korean culture classes as blended online classes based on flipped learning, the procedures of classes were reconstructed based on flipped learning's PARTNER model in the order of prior assignment → presentation and discussion classes → instruction → reflection to achieve the benefits of flipped learning more effectively.
In addition, the ultimate goal of the study is to help learners overcome, understand, and accept the alienation of Korean culture through artworks, thereby enhancing their cultural competence to view Korean culture more objectively. To this end, various prior assignments, presentations, and discussion activities related to artworks were also presented to help Korean learners become more interested in and learn Korean culture through various learning activities for each type of culture.
Consequently, the significance of this study is as follows:
First, in this study, artworks of Park Soo-Keun, who are referred to as ‘national artist’, were used to explore Korean culture education for Korean learners, and in addition, it was meaningful that the contents of each culture type of achievement, behavior, and ideology were selected, and specific and practical examples of Korean culture classes were organized accordingly.
Second, it is meaningful that Korean language learners living overseas were considered as research on non-face-to-face online classes has been actively being conducted due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, and it may be also meaningful in that this study attempted to make up with application of flipped learning for the shortcomings of online classes of learners being boring and distracted easily.
Third, as Korean Wave has recently increased, more and more foreigners are interested in Korean history and art culture, which serve as the basis for various Korean culture contents, and this study is meaningful in that it suggests ways to educate Korean culture using Korean artworks in keeping with the current trend.
Korean culture education using these artworks will help many Korean language learners who want to learn and experience more interesting and diverse Korean culture, as well as enable many people around the world to experience and recognize various and high-quality Korean culture beyond the Korean Wave.
