This paper is the study on the choi myong-ik' s novel of the autobiographical novel before the 8.15
This work aims to explicate the significance which the symbolic meaning of road, the meaning of schematic space relation, and a world view. Choi' s autobiographical novel suggest the formalized schematic pattern. Its problem related the symbolic road meaning with schematic space. The road has to get the symbolic meaning when the road meet with the space. The road meaning divide two on the space character.
The road meaning is the circumstantial meaning and the character of mediator relate the space with the space. These road and space pattern on the autobiographical novel has suggest the standardized plot.
For circumstantial character road of the surround-condition show the situation of changing state of subject-object. Its changing state meaning is the Japanese colonical dark condition. Second road meaning is the mediator which the realistic life style and escape life style. The writer' s plot is transimitt the form form the esccepe life style to the realistic life style. These transimitting style from space to space is to get the unique schematic from on the autobiographical work. Transimitting meditator is the road
The next problem is the writer' s world view. A world view at the represented on the work is suggested not the adaptability on the realistic life but the unadaptability and the self-excuse situation which inevitable realistic-escape. At the realistic space the protagonist action express the retirement and escape style to meet with the despire
Abnormal death, disease. He has the passive self-excuse and the attitude of the roadside outsider just like the escape realistic life is the waiting on the future or tomorrow. Finally his realistic escape-action is do not over come the self-excuse.
How to live do not regret life is the valuable life style and existential attitude is the live man live until he die. The valuable life style chang to the existential style. As the
result life style is despaire, self-escape, and outsider situation. These life style is the self-excuse, self-rationalization attitude is the naive intelligentia feature under the Japanese colonucal period.
Waiting for tomorrow and hope is really or not, and his will or another realistic escape, and self-rationalization is the suggested problem. Traveling to the meaning of space is to show the self-excuse and self-rationalization aspects.
