한시사(漢詩史) 서술의 제문제 = On Writing Hansi History

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 한국 한시사를 새롭게 쓰려고 할 때 고려해야 할 사항을 검토하였다. 먼저 그 동안 출간된 한문학사와 한시사에서 발견되는 문제점을 분석하여 한시사를 새롭게 써야 함을 주장하였다. 그에 따라 요구되는 조건을 제시하여 한시사 전개의 큰 구도를 세워 서술하는 의의를 중점적으로 논하였다. 이때 한시사를 쇠퇴의 과정으로 본 시각의 문제점을 비판하고 조선후기의 비중을 높여 서술할 것을 제안하였다. 또한 각 시대의 시대정신과 조류를 포착할 것과 한시사를 보는 문학사가의 독자적 史觀이 중요함을 주문하였다. 구체적으로 요구한 사항에는 斷代史 저술이 필요함과 대가를 중심으로 서술하는 한계를 극복하여 논의 대상을 다양한 작가군으로 확장하는 것, 단조로운 작가론의 지양, 다양한 문학 현상을 부각시킴으로써 역사적 맥락을 잡아내는 것이 있다. 자료를 편집하는 기왕의 전통적 방식에서 벗어나 21세기 독자가 기대하는 다양한 각도의 한시사를 지향할 것을 주장하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper examines the issues to consider when attempting to write, from a fresh perspective, the history of hansi, or Korean poetry written in Classical Chinese. It analyses existing publications on the subject, including the history of hanmunhak, or Korean literature written in Classical Chinese, and argues that the history of hansi must be rewritten from a fresh perspective. In suggesting the conditions for fulfilling the requirements of a new writing, it concentrates its discussion on the importance of establishing a “big picture” of the historical development of hansi. In doing so the paper criticizes those works that treat the subject from the perspective of a declining history hansi and suggests that more weight be given to the poetry of the Late Joseon period. The paper also calls for future works that capture the zeitgeist and the dominant currents of various historical periods in narrating the history of hansi and emphasizes the importance of having an independent view of history by literary historians who write the history of hansi. In terms of the content of the writing, the paper calls for more historical accounts by period; works that go beyond dealing only with great poets and expanding the scope of the discussion to include a variety of writer groups; and works that go beyond simply discussing poets and their works but highlighting various aspects of literary development and thereby providing a historical context. It argues for works of hansi history that break out of the traditional practice of simply editing existing sources and for works that broaden the scope of historical writings on hansi that are in step with the expectations of the 21st-century readership.
