대만 K-pop 팬덤의 음악 몰입 구조와 지속 메커니즘 = Music Immersion Structure and Sustaining Mechanisms in Taiwanese K-pop Fandom

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대만 K-pop 팬덤의 음악 몰입 경험을 모색하고, 그 구조와 특징을 밝히는 것에 목적을 둔다. 먼저 팬덤의 음악 청취 몰입 과정을 탐구하기 위해 노스워디와 미하이 칙센트미하이의 몰입 이론을 통합적으로 적용하여 분석 틀을 구성하였다. 이를 토대로 대만 K-pop 팬덤 10명을 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 실시하고, 그 결과를 질적 분석을 통해 도출하였다.
연구 결과, 대만 팬덤은 특정 장르에 국한되지 않고 다양한 음악을 적극적으로 수용하는 폭넓은 청취 성향을 보였으며, 이러한 특성은 새로운 음악에 대한 높은 수용성과 새로움을 추구하는 경향으로 이어졌다. 한편, K-pop의 반복적 청취는 일정 시점에서 지루함을 유발하였으나, 팬들은 이를 극복하기 위해 음악의 구조, 사운드, 퍼포먼스 등 다양한 요소를 재해석하며 보다 심층적인 음악 경험으로 나아가는 모습을 보였다. 이러한 과정은 새로움과 익숙함 사이를 오가며 개인의 역량과 과제 난이도의 균형을 형성하는 플로우의 상태로 해석될 수 있다.
또한 몰입을 가능하게 하는 주요 목표로는 개인의 정서적 안정과 행복 추구, 그리고 팬으로서 아티스트를 지지하기 위한 적극적인 음악 이해 태도가 확인되었다. 이러한 몰입은 알고리즘 기반 플랫폼과 트랜스미디어 스토리텔링 환경 속에서 강화되었으며, 더불어 팬들이 음악의 세부 요소를 구별하고 해석하는 과정에서 자기효능감이 증진되는 것으로 나타났다. 나아가 이러한 선행 조건은 깊은 몰입을 유도하고, 정서적·인지적·사회적 차원의 내적 보상으로 이어지며, 궁극적으로 팬덤을 지속시키는 핵심 동력으로 작용하는 것으로 분석되었다.
본 연구는 대만 K-pop 팬덤의 음악 몰입 경험을 과정 중심으로 체계화함으로써, 글로벌 팬덤의 지속성과 확장 메커니즘을 설명하는 이론적 기반을 제시하였다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to explore the music immersion experiences of Taiwanese K-pop fandom and to identify their structural characteristics. To investigate the process of music listening immersion within fandom, an analytical framework was developed by integratively applying flow theory, drawing on the works of Norsworthy and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. Based on this framework, in-depth interviews were conducted with ten Taiwanese K-pop fans, and the results were derived through qualitative analysis.
The findings reveal that Taiwanese fandom demonstrates a broad listening tendency, actively embracing a wide range of music beyond specific genres. This characteristic leads to a high level of openness to new music and a strong pursuit of novelty. While repetitive listening to K-pop occasionally induces boredom, fans actively overcome this by reinterpreting various elements such as musical structure, sound, and performance, thereby deepening their musical experience. This process can be understood as a flow state, where individuals continuously navigate between novelty and familiarity while maintaining a balance between personal competence and task challenge.
Furthermore, key goals driving immersion include the pursuit of emotional stability and happiness, as well as an active attitude toward understanding music in order to support artists as fans. Such immersion is further reinforced within algorithm-driven platforms and transmedia storytelling environments. In addition, the process of distinguishing and interpreting detailed musical elements enhances fans’ sense of self-efficacy. These antecedent conditions lead to deeper immersion, which results in internal rewards across emotional, cognitive, and social dimensions, ultimately functioning as a core driving force for sustaining fandom.
This study is significant in that it systematizes the music immersion experience of Taiwanese K-pop fandom from a process-oriented perspective and provides a theoretical foundation for explaining the sustainability and expansion mechanisms of global fandom.
