實/虛 개념으로 본 덕계 오건의 정치사상 ; 허위의 시대를 살아간 한 지식인의 고민과 실천 = Deok-gye Oh-gun's Political Thoughts from the Concept of Truth(實)/Falsehood(虛); The worries and practices of an intellectual who lived in the age of lies

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to examine the political thoughts of Deokgye Ogeon (德溪 吳健, 1521-1574) who was a bureaucrat in the mid-Joseon Dynasty and a disciple of Nammyung Cho Si-sik(南冥 曺植) and Toegye Yi Hwang(退溪 李滉). This article focuses on Deokgye as a school of Nammyung. He shared the awareness of the era with Nammyung, who defined the era as falsehood(虛) and tried to overcome it with truth(實). Many of his writings reveal the concept of falsehood(虛) and truth(實), and this article examines his political ideology through that concept.
He thought the old system that needed to be reformed as an falsehood(虛), advocated institutional reform in line with the actual reality. And he raised a sharp appeal to achieve the rulership of Seonjo (宣祖) established by the power of the Sarim(士林). He also emphasized ‘practice’ to Seonjo(宣祖), as he saw Yosun(堯舜) as an object to be followed and practices, who achieved leadership, but saw Yi Jong(理宗) of the Song dynasty as a falsehood(虛), who respected Confucianism but did not follow his practice.
The reason why I analyzed the thought of Deokgye through 'truth(實)' in this article is because this is a concept that can be reviewed as a Nammyung school, and I believe that the most important thing in both academics and politics is also 'truth(實)'. While the people suffered from tyranny, security problems and economic problems, scholars immersed in discussions that were far from real problems, and politicians struggled with power struggles, factions and ideologies. I think that Nammyung and Deokgye were telling us that it was a falsehood(虛).
