Stage music, which was in the field of experts, became deeply permeated to the general public in the 2000s. The economically affluent baby boomers tried to recreate the nostalgia of the period they grew up listening to through music, and such cravings emerged in the form of living music. And the living music is now prevalent throughout Korean society. However, living music goes beyond the hobbies of amateur performers and crosses the realm of experts, and the side effects of it are reaching a serious situation. The growth of living music has led to the erosion of the stage of professional performers. The performances that were entirely performed by experts in the past were filled with low-quality non-experts, and this phenomenon is gradually expanding. As a result, the quality of music in the concert hall is also decreasing, and even the disconnection of professional musicians has come to concern. In addition, even local governments are sympathetic to this phenomenon. Local governments are actively supporting amateur performers' music activities, such as supporting club activities and revitalizing the performance stage, and are even establishing a department dedicated to their support.
It is natural that music should be encouraged for the leisure use of the people. However, the current behavior of cutting off the activities of professional performers and revitalizing low-level performances requires serious reconsideration. Amateur performers should properly recognize that their performance is a hobby in daily life, and they need a mental attitude to perform accordingly. In addition, local governments urgently need policies to reduce the support of reckless amateur performers and expand support so that experts can actively work. Only when the stage of experts where high-quality music is played and the performance of amateur performers who enjoy it in their daily lives are found properly, will our society be a society where healthy music is played.
