Cellulose is an important class of natural polymers which, along with its derivatives, has garnered considerable industrial and academic interest. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) possessing unique structures and properties are attractive building blocks for novel materials and devices of important practical interest. Therefore, I studied the physical and chemical characters after synthesizing a new polymer composite film by the method of dispersing the two material.
Cellulose triacetate (CTA) and multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT) composite films were prepared by dispersing different weight percentages of MWNTs into CTA solution. These composite blends were studied by UV-vis spectroscopy (UV), and their surface mophology, thermal stability, and amended crystallinity were determined by atomic force microscopy (AFM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermally stimulated discharge conductivity (TSDC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the room temperature direct current (DC) electrical conductivity, respectively. Measurements of the complex impedance of the composite samples were made in the form of films. Sheets prepared from conventional techniques were used to study microwave absorption in the microwave range of 2 - 12 GHz, and the effects of sample thickness on microwave absorption were investigated. The experimental result shows that the electrical conductivity of composites increases with increasing MWNT loading without a percolation threshold. The conductivity of the polymer blends increased with the increase of temperature, showing a semi-conducting behavior. The apparent activation energy also showed a pronounced effect with the increase in the content of MWNTs. The patterned films obtained in this manner have many potential applications in electronics and photo-electrochemistry.
