인문(人紋)과 인문(人文), 도시의 관계에 대한 고찰 = A Study on the relationship among Human memories embedded, Humanities and Cities

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to verify relations among Human memories embedded (Hereinafter referred as “HME”), Humanities and cities by analyzing relations of city and its identity through history and storytelling, which is a reflection of HME and Humanities, verifying relations between HTE cities and Humanities cities.
Cities can be remembered as a humanities repository to hold our HME by recollecting our past history and experience. In general, it could be portrayed that a person who is mentally displaced from his embedded memories is the same as of amnesia of his life vestige which is also another loss of his memory over citizens stories and traces based on the history.
‘Memoria’ in Latin is a remembrance, which is opposite to ‘oblivio’ from oblivion, loss of memory. Thus, it can be defined that ‘memoria’ is similar to ‘non oblivivo’, ‘not to be forgotten’. In turn, ‘oblivio’ is opposite to ‘veritas’, the truth, which interprets that not to be fallen into oblivion is the truth. In consequence, remembrance is the truth and an identity not to be forgetful of our memory.
To obliterate our city memory is an activity of erasing one’s story and history. Thus urban regeneration in the form of effacing our memories is a project which blots out truth and identity. Thus, this intentional oblivion directly leads citizen to group dementia, which erases one’s identity.
To preserve our memories embedded in the city is to conserve our city memories, which is an activity to sustain city’s story and history. Thus to forget memories embedded in the city is to wipe out city’s memory and identity.
In conclusion, cities embedded with human memories are ones as it is, embracing HME with community’s memories and its trace. Human Cities can be defined that they are based on cities embraced with human memories to read and interpret community’s traces, in the process of developing ‘Humanities City Text’.
