17~19세기 남원(南原) 삭녕최씨가(朔寧崔氏家)의祭祀 운영 방식 고찰 -≪선세제차윤행사목(先世祭次輪行事目)≫을 중심으로- = A Review on the Method to Manage Ancestor Worship Service in Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon during the 17th and 19th Centuries -Focusing on Seonsejechayunhaengsamok(先世祭次輪行事目)-

The sources for managing ancestor worship service in the Joseon era can be obtained from old documents written in that age. However, there are few sources about it, because ancestor worship service was private ritual process in a house, and therefore it did not need to be written in detail as document. In spite of it, documents to show method for managing ancestor worship service in the Joseon era are Jokkye(族契) and Jongkye(宗契) documents in the Yangban(兩班) class families. Jokkye and Jongjye are credit union groups consisting of families in bloodline and they were mainly composed for conducting worship services to ancestors. This ritual service usually meant worship service to family ancestors. Seonsejechayunhaengsamok(先世祭次輪行事目) of Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon was composed in the extension of a Jongye. Accordingly, this study aims at analyzing method to manage ancestor worship service in Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon during the 17th and 19th centuries by reviewing this family``s Seonsejechayunhaengsamok. This Samok provides information about ancestor worship services in the family of Seungjigong, the eldest line of Tongryegong sect among Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon. The worshiped ancestors included from Naknamjo Choi Soo-woong to 8 generations of eight brothers. The method of the worship service was divided into memorial service before the grave and that on an anniversary of an ancestor``s death. The ancestors worshiped in Seonsejechayunhaengsamok had been great-great-grandparents in the mid and late 17th century and changed to forefathers more than five generations. The characteristics of service before the grave had changed from seasonal services in Hansik(寒食) and Chuseok(秋夕) in the mid and late 17th century to an anniversary service once a year. And then, the method to manage memorial service before the grave had been conducted by taking turns regardless of gender in the mid and late 17th century but in the early 19th century it was managed primarily by Jongye. For anniversary worship services in Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon, it had been conducted by taking turns regardless of gender for four generations of forefathers in the late 17th century but it became to be managed by male descendants only excluding female descendants. Through this, after the acceptance of Zhu Xi``s Confucian Clan Rules, changes in the method to manage worship service before the grave and that on an anniversary of an ancestor``s death were revealed. As seen above, the method to manage ancestor worship service in Choi Family of Saknyeong in Namwon had changed from taking turns of those before the grave and on an anniversary of an ancestor``s death in the mid and late 17th century to being conducted by Jongye for increasing anniversary worship services in the early 19th century.
