“문명 충돌”과 기독교 - 평화와 새 문명 창조를 위해

국문 초록 (Abstract)

2001년 9월 11일 테러 사건 이후 세계, 특히 한반도는 긴장과 공포 속에서 지내오고 있다. 왜냐하면 미국이 보복 전쟁으로 ‘테러와의 전쟁’(war against terror)란 슬로건을 내걸고 테러와 테러를 지원하는 것으로 여겨지는 국가는 어느 곳이든지 전쟁을 수행해오고 있고 수행할 계획을 가지고 있었기 때문이다. 그 가운데는 북한도 계산에 넣고 있어 한반도는 더욱 공포와 긴장 속에서 지내고 있다. 본 연구는 9.11테러 그리고 테러 이후의 보복의 전쟁을 숙지하는 동안에 그 어느 것도 인류의 희망인 평화를 구축이 되지 못한다는 것을 밝히고 있다. 특히 기독교와 이슬람교의 문명 충돌의 운운은 더욱 사태를 악화하게 할뿐이라는 것을 지적했다. 테러와 전쟁을 막고 평화를 모색하기 위해 아브라함으로부터 출발한 유대교, 이슬람교, 기독교의 공통점을 살펴보았다. 본 논문의 결과는 평화와 새 문명 창조를 제시하고 있는데, 그것은 타 문명에 대한 이해와 연구 그리고 이데올로기로서 기독교가 아닌 성서의 정신에서에서 온다고 명시하고 있다. 그것은 물리적 힘이 아니라, 복음의 힘이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

As the twenty-first century dawns, America got into a tough situation. After the terror attack of World Trade Center in September 11th. 2001, Bush political power has proclaimed "war against terror", and has dared the wars which it seems like the war against the Islam countries. So that some scholars, for instance, Samuel P. Huntington has referred the clash of civilization. We find in the ancestor of faith Abraham the root of the three civilizations: Christianity, Judaism, Islam. Although many people are so concerned and worried, it is just meaningless for building of peace.
As the title of this thesis, it handles of the relations between the christianity and clash of civilization. America is the country founded in the base of the spirit of christianity, although current in multi-cultural society. The true spirit of christianity pursuits reconciliation and peace. The Bible says: "You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If some one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."(Mt. 5:38-39). Christianity should come back into the spirit of the Bible, in which God is saying. Therefore the slogan of "war against terror" should be replaced to the campaign of "love of enemy".
The purpose of this study is to address the questions:
1. How can we stop referring to clash of civilization?
2. How can we build up a true reconciliation between two similar but different civilizations?
3. How can we match "shalom in Christianity" and "Islam(the meaning of peace) in Islam"?
4. How is it possible to create "new civilization' based on the word of God?
We sing "the song of peace", which Isaiah dreamed : "He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any more. Come, O house of Jacob, let us walk in the light of the Lord."(Is. 2:4-5)
