발자크의 담론 전략 - 전원 시리즈를 중심으로 = Balzac’s Discursive Strategy - Focused on Scene de la vie de campagne Series

Balzac’s scene refer to a series of events in real life. Balzac takes the conflict between Paris and the provinces as the starting point of an understanding of the social formation in France, and rural areas are excluded from the conflict. The scenes of rural life, the subject of this study, are those of rural areas that still only latently exist in the French society after the French Revolution.
The title of a novel is located on the borderline between the socio-historic world and the world of fiction. The title is like a prism that sociality penetrates through and comes into literature. For example, the title, Les Paysans refers to the life of the grassroots that imply several semantemes, which include cultural semanteme that refers to the awareness of a saying, fictional semanteme of conflict and risk and socio-historical semanteme, which is the reorganization of social system.
The preface is usually located at the beginning of a book, states the origin of the work, awakens the reader’s obligation and points out the misunderstanding of criticisms. Balzac sets up the direction of the method of narration through the preface as a novelist, conceptualizes the originality and significance of the plan for the work and constructs its theoretical foundations.
A　narrator elaborates changes in characters’ lives, intervening in the turning point of the story. He intervenes in strategic places from the perspective of descriptive economics. An omniscient narrator that forms a large majority of Balzac’s novels controls the development of stories. He manages the components of texts and interpret the characters’ behaviors.
In Balzac’s novels, rural life is a rest in nature and the dream of utopia. Along with this, Balzac’s rural areas are places where the struggle between social hierarchies takes place and the true territory of the revolutionized France.
