전쟁 이후의 전쟁 : 포스트냉전시대 한국 전쟁영화의 계보와 욕망 = The War After the War: The Geneology and Desires of Korean War Films in the Post－Cold War Era

Focusing on seven Korean war films that have been popular since the 2000s, this article aims to reconstruct the meaning of new signs and changes in Korean society in the post－Cold War era and examine the socio－cultural meaning of two kinds of war films with conflicting memories. The Korean war films covered in this article refers to Korean films about the Korean War. This article categorizes the plots of Korean war films during the Cold War into six plots (A to F). Through this, it can be seen that Type A－C was mainly produced in the 1950s, Type C－E in the 1960s, and Type E－F in the late 1960s and 1980s, and Type F under the theme of anti－war and anti－foreign power in the 1990s and 2000s when democratization progressed, and Type E under the theme of anti－North Korea again became the trend in the 2010s when the conservative government was established. If war movies during the Cold War contributed to the creation of the Republic of Korea's image based on anti－communism, in the post－Cold War era, different memories are displayed by inheriting or questioning the image of the Republic of Korea. War films shape the other by distinguishing enemies from allies, reaffirming the identity of “we” and integrating “we.” When “we” is South Korea = ROK, the enemy (Antagonist) to be defeated becomes a North Korean communist, but when “we” is the entire South and North Korean people, the Antagonist is a foreign power, war itself, or sometimes a poor system that cannot protect the people. Depending on how “we” is set, war films in the post－Cold War era criticize the tragic reality of the nation on the one hand and try to create a myth of national construction on the other. War films are the place where two conflicting memories and desires, nationalist and statist, compete in the form of war films. Therefore, Korean war films in the post－Cold War era, which newly reconstructed the Cold War, are not North and South (Korean) conflicts, but proxy wars on the screen that represent South and South (Korean) conflicts.
