大學 東洋畵 課程에서의 人物畵 學習에 대한 硏究 : Chiefly on the Picture of Figures = "A Study on the Curriculum of Korean Paintings at the Art College"

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

An Oriental Painting being classified according to the motives, we can say there are Picture of Figure, Flowers and Birds Painting and Landscape Painting.
In the history of painting Picture of Figures which flourished most in the Renaissance was the backbone of the Christian Art in European Cultural Area. The Christian Art has been the foundation of the modern World Art.
In Oriental Painting, however, Picture of Figures was treated slightly. It was treated only in the portrait of royal families or nobilies, Buddhist painting and some Genre pictures.
Consequently its flourish is very dull.
After 15th century in Europe, there appeared many great artists such as Rembrant, Goya, Delacroix, Ingres, David and Millet etc. headed by three greatest Artists of Leonardo Davinci, Michelangelo and Raphael. But in Orient, Yom Rib Bon of China, Kim Hong To and Shin Yoon Bok of Korea were appeared. There was no comparison between the European picture of Figures and the Oriental one. This was very poor.
Fortunately, however, Sketching of Gypsum idol is fundamentally required in the entrance examination of the Art College. What does in mean? Gypsum idol is mainly the bust made by a famous sculptor. Dessin Rough Sketch (drawing the bust) is the base of the Picture of Figures. We think Sketching of Gypsum idol is very important as a fundamental base in painting lesson. Because the painter who is Good at the Picture of Figures is good at all Paintings;Oriental Painting, Western painting and Sculpture.
Therefore in the Art College the Picture of Figures is absolutely important in the curriculum of the Oriental painting. And it is more impotant thare Flowers and Birds Painting, Landscape Painting.
But recently the half-ripened Abstract Painting of the European paintings is in fashion uncritically. It is a pity that the Concreting, especially picture of Figures, is being ignored gradually.
At this pint the present writer insists that the firm teaching of picture of Figures be essential in the Art College in order to flourish the Oriental Painting in Korea;
So beginning from an idea on drawing the picture, the method ot collect various materials, matters to be noticed in drawing a sketch of one figure or two figures or three figures, the method of composing a bust or a standing figure or a sitting figure, and in the last various methods in colouring are treated mainly in practical technique. ;
We look foward to meeting our greatest pictures of figure which is superior to those of Renaissance. ;
