중고령자의 디지털정보역량수준 예측요인 분석: 성별 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록 (Abstract)

중고령자의 디지털정보역량수준은 다른 취약계층(결혼 이민자, 저소득, 장애인 등)에 비해 급속도로 증가하고 있다. 하지만 이들을 대상으로 한 디지털정보역량수준과 관련된 연구는 부족한 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구는 중고령자를 대상으로 디지털정보역량수준과 관련된 변인들을 검증하기 위해 인구사회학적 변인, 신체 및 정신건강 변인이 중고령자의 디지털정보역량수준에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 본 연구에서는 한국정보화진흥원의 2018년 디지털정보격차 실태조사 자료 중 55세에서 84세에 해당하는 1,656명의 자료를 분석하였다. 위계적 다중회귀분석 결과, 남성과 여성 중고령자 모두 교육수준과 경제수준이 높을수록 디지털정보역량수준이 높게 나타났으며 남성 중고령자의 경우 일상생활 만족도가 높을수록, 여성 중고령자의 경우 연령이 높을수록 디지털정보역량수준이 높게 나타나 성별에 따라 차이를 보였다. 본 연구결과는 남·여성 중고령자의 디지털 정보역량수준과 관련된 특성들을 이해하고, 중고령자의 디지털정보역량수준 향상을 위한 실천적 개입에 중요한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Digital information capability of the middle-aged and elderly has been increasing at a faster pace than other groups such as the handicapped and adolescents. However, studies related to the digital information capability of middle and older adults are scarce. In order to examine variables affecting capability to digital information of the middle-aged and elderly people, this study researches the impacts of sociodemographic, physical and mental health variables on the capability of digital information. We analyzed data of 1,656 people between the age of 55 and 84 from 2018 survey on the digital information gap by National Information Society Agency. As a result of hierarchical multiple regression analysis, the higher education and the economic levels are, the higher the digital capability levels of both male and female are. The result suggests that it is necessary to provide opportunities for the middle and older adults to learn and understand digital information levels in consideration of their education level and income level when developing information education programs and to encourage them to actively participate. The result of the analysis also shows that the aged male has a higher capability as Daily Life Satisfaction is higher, and meanwhile, the aged female has a higher digital capability as her age is higher, which describes that there are differences according to gender. Therefore, it is necessary to consider developing and operating an integrated program centered on active physical and mental health in which middle and older male adults can actively participate in order to enhance digital information capability of male middle and high-aged people even within middle and high-aged people. Also, the older the age, the middle and older female adults have a higher level of digital information capability compared to the past when they were not able to use the digital information devices. Considering the fact that the possession and use rate of smart devices by middle and old people is not much different from that of young people, it is necessary to develop and operate programs that take into account the concept of digital information capability or digital information utilization, which is a concept of more application than the concept of access, such as digital information access level.
Lastly, this study has a limitation that various predictors could not be examined due to the limitations of the analysis data. Given that a number of studies have reported that changes in retirement and aging are likely to affect depression, anxiety, and self-efficacy, it is necessary to verify whether they affect the level of digital information capability of middle-aged and elder people, including those that can measure psychological factors such as depression, anxiety and self-efficacy in terms of mental health.
