호주 디아스포라 신학과 실천에 관한 연구: 홍길복을 중심으로 = A Study of Diaspora Theolohy in Australia and its Practice: with Special Reference to Kil Bock Hong

This paper treats of ‘Diaspora theology’ and its practice in(the Commonwealth of ) Australia with special reference to Rev. Kil Bock Hong(1944). Australia is very famous for its scenic beauty. The Sydney Harbour is one of the world`s three most beautiful harbours. Blue Mountain can be compared to the Grand Cantons in USA. Aboriginal people has inhabited in Australia before James Cook arrived in Australia in 1770. The first Korean Church in Australia was established in Melbourne in 197. Rev. Dr. John P. Brown( Korean name: Byun Jo Eun) established the first Korean Church in Sydney in 1974. He worked as a missionary for 13 years in Korea. Rev. Kil Bock Hong was born in November, 1944 in Province Whanghae-Do, Korea. In June 1980 he arrived at Kingsford Airport in Sydney. He established th Korean Church in Perth. He has been a minister as senior pastor for 18 years in “the Stdney Cheil Church’ from 1980 to 1998. He established ‘the Sydeney Woori Church’ in 1999 where he worked as senior pastor for 14 years from in 1999 to in 2012. He has taught at Sydney College of Divinity since 2010. His ministry`s field in a land of migrants. His ministry`s objects are Korean migrants who live in Australia. The Holy Scriptures in his ministry`s textbook in which there are many stories about migrants. Jesus Christ is his ministry`s aim, content, and principle. Gil Bock Hong`s ‘diaspora theolohy’ is based on three foundations from the Holy Scriptures. He understands his diaspora theology in perspectives of Christ, God, and ‘Heilsgeschichte’. Gil Bock Hong has great concern for the elationship bet ween the historical Jesus and the kerygmatic Christ. He always identifies Jesus Christus not only with a migrant, but also with an oriental people. Jesus Christ is a migrant as well as we are Korean migrants. Korenan migrants are strangers, aliens, refugees, aliens exiles, and pilgrims. Are we Korean-Korean? Korean? Australian? Korean-Australian? Australian-Korean? The word ‘diaspora’ is ofen used to describe God’` action of scattering people. Korean migrants are Diaspora people who live scattered. He is God who is scattering His people, Kil Bock Hong is assured that God is ‘moving God’ and ‘mobile God’. God is with His people as migrants. God created all things, He also preserves rgem. God delivers His people form their sufferings, sins, and death. God is the healing God. Jesus also is the healing Lord. Korean Church in Australia must support mission with Aboriginal people. She should work for the human rights and welfare of migrant workers in Australia. Korean Church in Australia must serve the communities living in diaspora in the world ofr the sake of developing a cross-cultural community of faith and witness to the multi-cultural kingdom of God. Let`s pray that Australia will become a truly multi-cultural society without racial discrimination. Because Australia is the lan and the earth of God.
