부부 의사소통 유형과 성 지식 수준의 성 만족도와의 관계 연구 = (A) Study on the relation among the marital communication style, the level of sexual knowledge, and the sexual satisfaction

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부부간 의사소통과 성 지식 수준이 성 만족도와 어떤 관계가 있는지 검증하고, 더불어 성관계에 관한 많은 후속 연구가 이루어지도록 자료를 제공할 목적으로 실시되었다.
이러한 목적에 따라, 본 연구에서 살펴본 연구문제는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 개인의 배경변수(성별, 연령, 경제적 수준, 종교, 결혼기간, 부모 봉양 여부 등)에 따라 성 만족도의 차이가 있는가?
둘째, 개인의 의사소통 유형에 따라 성 만족도는 차이가 있는가?
셋째, 부부 의사소통 유형에 나타난 언어적 표현 정도에 따라 부부간 성 만족도는 차이가 있는가?
넷째, 부부 의사소통 유형에 나타난 감정 노출 정도에 따라 부부간 성 만족도는 차이가 있는가?
다섯째, 성 지식 수준과 성 만족도는 상관이 있는가?
위와 같은 연구문제를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 서울지역에서 거주, 혹은 근무하고 있는 1224명(612쌍)의 부부들을 대상으로 조사를 실시하여 264명(132쌍)의 유효설문을 가지고 분석을 하였다. 연구도구는 Hawkins 등이 개발한 의사소통 유형 검사지와 Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory 중 성 지식 수준, 성 만족도를 측정하는 문항을 종합하여 구성하였다.
자료분석을 통해 밝혀진 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 본 연구에서 성별, 연령, 학력, 직업, 종교, 결혼기간, 결혼형태, 교제기간, 자녀 수, 가족수입, 부모 봉양 여부 등의 11가지 개인 배경변수 중 학력, 결혼형태, 가족수입, 교제기간 등의 4가지 요인이 성 만족에 중요한 관련 요인이라는 결과를 얻었다. 즉 학력이 높을수록, 연애결혼을 했을 때, 가족수입이 많을수록, 교제기간이 짧을수록 성 만족도가 높다는 결과를 얻었다.
둘째, 개인의 의사소통 유형에 따라 성 만족도는 차이가 있고, 언어적으로 개방적이고 감정 노출 정도가 높은 친숙형의 성 만족도가 가장 높은 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 언어적으로 개방적인 의사소통을 하는 부부가 폐쇄적인 의사소통을 하는 부부보다 성 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.
넷째, 감정의 노출 정도가 높은 유형의 의사소통을 하는 부부들이 감정노출 정도가 낮은 유형의 부부보다 성 만족도가 높은 결과를 나타냈다.
다섯째, 성 지식 수준과 성 만족도는 높은 상관을 보이고 있으며, 성 지식 수준이 높을수록 성 만족도가 높은 것으로 나타났다.
본 연구에서 밝혀진 결과를 기초로 결론을 내리면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 본 연구의 결과는 지금까지 중요성이 간과되었던 부부간의 의사소통이 성 만족도에 영향을 준다는 것을 보여주고 있고, 성 지식 수준이 성 만족도와 깊은 연관이 있다는 것을 보여주고 있다.
둘째, 성 지식은 성 만족도에 있어 중요한 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 그러므로 건전한 성 지식 습득을 위한 개인의 노력뿐만 아니라, 전문가들이 성인 부부들을 대상으로 성교육 프로그램을 개발하고 시행하는 노력이 필요하다.
따라서, 배우자와 친밀하게 의사소통 하려는 부부간의 노력이 중요하다. 뿐만 아니라 건전한 성 지식을 습득하려는 개인의 노력과 아울러 이러한 것들을 돕기 위한 전문가들의 성교육이 필요하다. 이러한 노력들로 인해 부부간에 의사소통이 활발해질 수 있고 성 만족도가 향상되는 데 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was designed to reveal the relation among the marital communication style, the level of sexual knowledge, and the sexual satisfactions. In addition, it aims to provide useful data to the successive studies on the sexual behavior.
Subjects of this study can be summarized as follows:
(1) Do individuals background variables, such as gender, age, income level, religion, length of marriage, family composition, etc., have any correlation with the level of sexual satisfaction?
(2) Does the personal communication style have any impact on the level of sexual satisfaction?
(3) Does the openness of communication style have any impact on the level of sexual satisfaction?
(4) Does the level of disclosure in communication style have any impact on the level of sexual satisfaction?
(5) Does the level of sexual knowledge have any impact on the level of sexual satisfaction?
Of the data from a survey on 1224 husbands and wives (612 married couples) who live or work in Seoul, the study analyzed 264 valid responses (responses from 132 married couples). The study utilized the communication style questionnaire developed by Hawkins et. al., and questions in Derogatis Sexual Functioning Inventory which are designed to help determine the level of sexual knowledge and sexual satisfaction.
The result of the analysis can summarized as follows:
(1) Among the 11 background variables, individuals' educational attainment, the type of marriage, the income level, and the length of pre-marital association are four most significant explanatory variables for the level of sexual satisfaction.
(2) Couples with "contactful" communication style tend to achieve the highest level of sexual satisfaction.
(3) Couples with open communication style tend to achieve higher level of sexual satisfaction.
(4) Couples with high level of emotional disclosure tend to achieve higher level of sexual satisfaction.
(5) Couples with high level of sexual knowledge tend to achieve higher level of sexual satisfaction.
Based on the results of the analysis, the study concludes that :
(1) The communication style and the level of sexual knowledge, which have been overlooked due to various reasons, do have a significant impact on the level of sexual satisfaction.
(2) Since the level of sexual knowledge is an important determinant for the level of sexual satisfaction, specialists' efforts to develop effective sexual education program should help improve the overall level of sexual satisfaction of inquiring couples, along with individuals' efforts to develop intimate communication skills and to become more familiar with healthy sexual knowledge.
