중국 장강삼각주 도시군의 교통 일체화가 경제성장에 미치는 공간 파급효과 분석 = The Spatial Spillover Effects of Transportation Integration on Economic Growth in Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration

Since Xi Jinping came to power, the “The New Urbanization Plan (2014-2020)(国家新型镇化规划(2014-2020年))” has been promulgated as a new blueprint for China’s urbanization, and a new spatial unit called ‘Urban Agglomeration(chengshiqun; 城市群)’ has been proposed as a means of optimizing urban spatial layout. One of the policies that should be prioritized for the construction of chengshiqun is the transportation integration strategy. The development of transportation infrastructure has the characteristic of generating spatial interaction through physical connections between cities. The rearrangement of urban space and spatial interaction between cities are expected to be important factors in China’s urban development. Accordingly, in order to analyze China’s urbanization development model, it is necessary to reconstruct the analysis target and consider spatial interaction. This study designated the Yangtze River Delta, which has a high level of transportation infrastructure development, as the analysis region. As a result of spatial regression analysis on Yangtze River Delta chengshiqun, it was found that road extension and rail investment had a positive effect on economic growth among transportation infrastructure variables.
When the scope of spatial influence was reflected differently, the economic effect due to the development of transportation infrastructure between nearby cities in the Yangtze River Delta chengshiqun was significant, but the effect between distant cities was statistically insignificant. This shows that the current level of transportation integration in the Yangtze River Delta chengshiqun is limited to cities that are close. Despite the high level of development of transportation infrastructure, the limited spillover effect suggests that the transport integration policy of the Yangtze River Delta chengshiqun has limitations in acting as an effective strategy for urban development.
