This study provides useful data in the improvement and in the development of taekwondo for the disabled. This study did a comparative analysis of how various weight classes and penalty actions incurred during a match can affect match decision judgments for the disabled players. This study is based on matches conducted during 33rd National Taekwondo Competition for the disabled. This study included results from 28 athletes from 15 matches including the one match withdrawal. More specifically, male players competed in three weight classes and female players participated in two weight classes. In addition, the players in each of the weight classes included 2 semifinal matches, and one final match totaling 14 matches participated by the athletes. Scoring, penalty warnings, and point deduction were all tabulated by the frequency of occurrence during this study. From the analysis of this study, the following is a summary of the results from this study. First, 151 total points were received in the 14 matches. Male participants scored earned 103 points from nine matches and an average score of 11.4 points. Female participants scored earned 48 points from five matches and an average score of 9.6 points. From these results, male participants showed greater ability to score more points. Second, analysis of penalty warnings showed 23 warnings. Male players received 17 warnings from nine matches. More importantly, there were nine winners who received penalty warnings while players who lost received eight warnings. The average warning per match was 1.8 warning. Female players received six warnings from five matches. There were two winners and four who lost. The average warnings for female players were 1.6 warnings per match. From this analysis, male participants received more warnings. More importantly, male winners received more warnings while female participants who received more warnings resulted in losses. Third, analysis of decision judgment were based on 15 matches including the one withdrawal had seven RSC win-based decision. There were also seven wins based on referee judgment. Nine male competitions had five RSC wins and four wins based on referee judgment. Next, six female competitions had one withdraw, two RSC based wins, and three referee based wins. RSC based results indicate much higher rate of wins for male players than the female players. Finally, from this study, it was shown that many city and provincial municipalities did not participate due to the lack of disabled participants. Moreover, there was a great disparity among the players who participated in terms of their abilities and skills. Based on this study, there needs to be more awareness and promotion of taekwondo for the disabled in order to find able athletes and develop their talents. In addition, there needs to be more training for taekwondo instructors for the disabled. Lastly, there needs to be a lot more marketing and promotion to cultivate taekwondo for the disabled players. This needs to be conducted by Sports Association for the Disabled and Taekwondo Association for the Disabled.
