중소병원의 경영전략수립을 위한 일고찰 : SWOT 분석을 중심으로 = A Study on the SWOT Analysis of Medium and Small Sized Hospitals

Recently social and economic environments of medium and small sized hospitals are changing fast. As the domestic and international competition between hospitals is intensified recently, the hospital management has become increasingly worse. Many hospitals make every effort to enhance competitiveness through the improvement of facilities and efficient operation.
A key element in effective management of medium and small sized hospital is determining the ideal alignment between the environment and the organization. So the manager of medium and small sized hospitals must first thoroughly understand the nature of the organization environments.
Planning techniques, such as SWOT analysis is used to examine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in the hospital sector.
SWOT analysis is a careful evaluation of an organization' internal strengths and weakness as well as its environmental opportunities and threats.
A main purpose of SWOT analysis is to discover an organization' distinctive competencies so that the organization can choose and implement strategies that exploi1 its unique organizational strengths.
SWOT(strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis is an important strategic planning tool that compares internal organizational strengths and weaknesses to external opportunities and threats.
a. Matching of internal strength with external opportunity produces a situation known as leverage.
b. A problem exists when environmental threats attack an organization's weakness.
c. Constraints refer to situations where organizations are unable to capitalize on opportunities because of internal limitations.
d. An environment threat to a current organizational strength is termed a vulnerability.
We need to solve our hospital problems at a crisis. This paper aims to develop a competitive strategy for hospital with the SWOT Analysis
In this study, based on the analysis of SWOT(strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of Korean medium and small sized hospitals, strategic planning is formulated and recommended.
