투사되는 빛에 따른 프로젝션 맵핑 컬러분석 = Color Analysis of Projection Mapping by Projected Light
We are experiencing a new environment with mediatechnology development in the present era. Notably, as projection mapping isconducted by projecting a completely different texture on the object, creatinga new thing or space by changing the original nature of the object. Due tothese characteristics, projection mapping is actively used in exhibitions andevent performances, and it brings the audience more intensive illusion andimmersion from the boundary between reality and virtual reality. However, thehardware elements of projection mapping are continuously being developed, whereas fundamental research on projected images or videos has yet to beconducted. Currently, images or videos produced by software often differ fromthe original color or texture expression of the produced work when applied toactual objects or spaces. If itcan anticipate and work with the even roughly mapped result value initially, the production stage of projection mapping can be considerably reduced. Thisstudy aims to research the brightness of the object surface, the intensity ofthe projected light, and the effect of indirect illumination on the projectedcolor. Furthermore, it also intended to derive the most optimized setting valueby analyzing the difference between the original color of the image or videoproduced by the software and the projected color. Experiments showed that inthe absence of indirect illumination, the projected color was better depictedwhen the object's surface had high brightness and light intensity, and underindirect illumination when the object's surface had low brightness and lightintensity. The projected color was affected by the color temperature of theindirect illumination. Red, yellow, and purple were better represented in redlighting, and green and blue-green were better in blue lighting. White washardly affected by the light intensity or indirect lighting, while black washeavily influenced by indirect lighting by absorbing all the projected light.Red, yellow, and purple colors were better represented, regardless of the lightintensity and the brightness of the object's surface, whereas green and bluewere not well expressed. The most crucial factorthat showed different results in this experiment was indirect lighting, anexternal stimulus factor. Accordingly, further researchwill require on other external interferences in the future.
