용인대학교 체육박물관 설립을 위한 기본 계획 연구 = Plan of Sports Museum of Yong-in University

Introduction :
There have been many kinds of sport events and activities in Korea nationally and internationally. Those events were promoted as the carefully thought - out plan with people's sweat and labor, however, nowadays not many Korean people remember precisely those events because long time has passed. Also, we have not kept the excitements and memories in our mind as much as we felt in 1986 Asian games and 1988 Seoul Olympic games which were held in Korea.
The self - praise of the 5,000 year-old historical country can not be proven without the legacy. Those aspects are often shown in sport and physical education history, also in Yong-in University, a well-known sport school. If we have no plan for the preservation and arrangement of the materials such as the legacy about sport and physical education, we cannot arrange the history of Yong - in University which has established most of Korean sport and physical education history. From now on, we must consider the arrangement and the preservation of the legacy about sport and physical education history in our University. So we need a sports museum.
Method :
First, this research was to investigate generally the conditions of the preservation of the legacy about sport and physical education history in sports museums and organization at home and abroad. Second, to consider the historical values of the legacy and the needs of preservation of it. And third, to propose the proper plan to preserve and to exhibit the legacy in Yong - in sports museum.
Result :
The investigators have taken the photos of the legacy about sport and physical education history in sports museums and organization in order to check the conditions of the legacy by visiting those institutes home and abroad. In abroad, Morgan Centerat UCLA University in U.S.A. was pictured in August, 1995, Kusul Pavilion at Physical Education School in Taipei was observed and pictured in December, 1995 by the investigators. In Korea, Seoul Olympic Pavilion, Mount Museum in Seoul, Sunseung Hall in Kyunghee University, 86 Asian fames and 88 Seoul Olympic Pingpong Pavilion, Exhibition rooms in Yongin University Library, and Masa(horse racing) Museum in Guachun were checked by the investigators in February, 1996. In addition to the study of the literature of the legacy about sport and physical education history, the museums such as IOC Olympic Museum in Swiss and Baseball Museum in Japan were included.
Plan of Sports Museum of Yong-in University :
The function of the preservation and the exhibition of the legacies about sport and physical education can be attributed to display, to educate, to inform, to research, to collect, and to preserve. Therefore, we must properly preserve the legacies. These increasing legacies can not be preserved in an infinite space. So pictorial records, imitations, or CDS are urgently needed to reduce the high risk of missing or damaging of the valuable legacies. Also, the accumulated knowledge on what the legacy is should be very important to maintain the remains well.
