According to Cusa, the human mind is a living image of God (viva imago dei) and derives from the absolute mind of God. This created image is dynamic and alive and accomplishes the tendency to become similar to God its ability. Therefore, the human mind recognizes its own lively unity with God. In addition, the human mind as image unfolds inward (implicatio) from the internal essence of God, namely, the prototype images of God (creatures). On the other hand, the area of being unfolds outward (explicatio) through divine creation. The human mind is, namely, the image of God in itself and everything except the human mind only exists conceptually through it. The unity of the human mind reflects the double character as something participated in as well as being simultaneously the participant. The human mind especially is a place of the manifestation of God recognized as the self-manifestation of creative art by the divine mind. While God unfolds inwardly those things in him according to his prototype, the human mind unfolds inwardly those things according to their similarity. This similarity is marked as assimilation (assimilatio), in which reality is realized. Concept assimilation expresses unity and differences together between divine creation and being created. The human mind assimilates itself to the pure forms or essence of things because it has the ability to assimilate everything to itself. In this way, human thought shapes Welt through concepts, which in turn assimilates itself to divine creation. If the human mind projects similarity to itself, it is an assimilation about the order of things to be unfolded inwardly into the human mind. It is an assimilation to reality to be given through human activity. This assimilation is an essential part of self-realization in the human mind. Assimilation, as process of recognition, is understood as the rising of the mind towards a fixed point. This point does not have a limit. The end of this rise is infinity. This is the final moment of recognizing the distinguished object. By assimilation the similarity with the original being between the unfolding-inward of everything and of things to be built in our mind remains. This is due to activity facilitated by the subject of recognition. However, the distance between being and recognition eventually reaches a certain point in the recognition of the mind. On the other hand, the human mind is not only measure to measure but also a measure to be measured because it is, by itself, the image of prototypical measure (mensura). In other words, it is the measure of everything. Therefore, the human mind gives something to measure and gives a definition of it in order to set a limit to something. This setting of a limit shows a lead towards the infinite. However, measure and that being measured have a relation between possibility and reality. The measure`s act as reality never perfectly reaches its own hidden possibility. Our mind as ``mensura`` of measure is relative. It is impossible to give a pure measure in the world of experience. Measure and that being measured are in the process of unlimited assimilation. They never coincide (coincidere) with each other. This coincidence is absolute unity in truth itself. Our mind can only think within the relative unity with otherness. Cusa believes our final recognition is summarized under the concept of presumption (coniectura). The human mind creates the world of presumption from itself through an analogy with the infinite world-creator. This presumptive recognition does not lose itself in posterior forms, but remains, apriori, controlled by the inherent dynamics of human mental ability. The recognition of the mind formed by comparison and measure shows an infinite assimilation towards understanding truth. Consequently, presumption does not reach for things each time, but assimilates as much as possible towards that unnameable something. This presumptive recognition is done by taking a priority of precise recognition through the absolute unity. Because the infinite form as absolute unity is the premise and origin of everything. At the same time, this form is also the origin of everything that can be understood in terms of language. Eventually recognition is not only conscious of autonomy in its own intrinsic image, but also conscious of limit and origin. This autonomy and acceptability of the human mind is established side by side, so that the mind comes from itself and then goes out of things. At the same time, the mind reenters itself. Thus, both sides coincide as one. In conclusion, if we see it from the standpoint of the final objective, the human mind remains as possibility. However, the human mind, through a potential that is not yet realized as infinite approachability, always makes more realistic the new understanding concerning ones possibility. Therefore the coincidences between God`s creation and the imaginative creation of human thought gives an assurance that thought and reality will not make each other collapse. In other words, the principles of reality will coincide with each other, even though these realities will have differences.
