일론 머스크의 발명영재성 요인 탐색 = Exploring the Inventively Giftedness Constructs of Elon Musk

The purpose of this study was to confirm the inventively giftedness factors of Elon Musk and provide basic data in the field of inventively giftedness factor research through comparison and analysis with the results of related prior research. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, five books about Elon Musk's life were selected after review by two invention education experts, and then analyzed by applying content analysis among qualitative research methods. As a content analysis framework, I adopted an approach that divided giftedness into four categories: cognitive ability, affective traits, social traits, and environmental factors. The results of this study are as follows.
First, Elon Musk's inventively giftedness factor consisted of a total of 34 detailed factors in 11 factors in 4 areas. Specifically, the knowledge information processing ability in the cognitive ability area include 1) excellent learning ability 2) memory 3) concentration 4) representational thinking ability, the divergent thinking ability include 5) innovative thinking ability 6) application ability 7) multiple thinking ability 8) algorithmic thinking ability 9) future-oriented fantasy ability, the convergent thinking ability include 10) insight 11) design sense 12) prototyping thinking ability, the generative emotional traits in the affective traits area include 1) curiosity 2) subjectivity 3) adventurous spirit to take risks, the selective emotional traits include 4) action orientation based on quick decisions 5) fighting spirit that does not avoid friction, the maintaining emotional traits include 6) goal-oriented tendency 7) positive tendency to learn through failure 8) optimistic tendency toward the future 9) passionate tendency 10) strong grit and competitive spirit 11) task commitment 12) strong bold tendency in times of crisis, the internal traits in the social traits area include 1) leadership leading by example 2) persuasiveness, 3) motivational ability, the external traits include 4) a sense of responsibility for humanity, and the family environment in the environmental factors include 1) genetic factors 2) cultural factors, the educational environment include 3) intellectual environment traits, 4) economic environment traits, the social environment include 5) temporal environment traits, and 6) spatial environment traits.
Second, among the 34 inventively giftedness factors discovered in Elon Musk, there are three factors in common with the inventively giftedness factors derived from prior research at a theoretical level and prior research analyzing the lives of real people: 1) excellent learning ability 2) innovative thinking ability 3) task commitment.
Third, the inventively giftedness that was commonly found in prior research that analyzed the careers of outstanding inventors and derived the factors of inventively giftedness, but did not appear in Elon Musk were 1) the ability to come up with and record ideas, 2) perfectionism, On the contrary, Elon Musk's unique inventively giftedness that was not found in other prior research were 1) representational thinking ability 2) algorithmic thinking ability 3) prototyping thinking ability 4) fighting spirit that does not avoid friction 5) optimistic tendency toward the future 6) strong boldness in times of crisis 7) motivational ability. Elon Musk's seven unique inventively giftedness are considered to be meaningful factors from the perspective that Elon Musk's unique inventively giftedness was expressed through interaction with various environmental factors surrounding him.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구의 목적은 일론 머스크의 발명영재성 요인을 탐색하고 관련 선행연구의 결과와의 비교·분석을 통해 발명영재성 요인 연구 분야의 기초 자료를 제공하는 데 있다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 발명교육 전문가 2인의 검토를 받아 일론 머스크의 삶을 조명한 5권의 도서를 선정한 후 질적 연구방법 중 내용분석법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 내용분석의 틀로 영재성을 인지적 능력, 정의적 특성, 사회적 특성, 환경적 요인의 네 가지로 구분한 접근을 채택하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 일론 머스크의 발명영재성 요인은 4가지 영역의 11개 요소에서 총 34개의 세부 요소로 나타났다. 구체적으로 인지적 능력 영역의 지식정보처리능력에서 1) 뛰어난 학습 능력 2) 기억력 3) 집중력 4) 표상적 사고 능력, 확산적 사고 능력에서 5) 혁신적 사고 능력 6) 응용 능력 7) 다중 사고 능력 8) 알고리즘적 사고 능력 9) 미래지향적 공상 능력, 수렴적 사고 능력에서 10) 통찰력 11) 디자인 감각 12) 프로토타입화 사고 능력, 정의적 특성 영역의 발생적 정서 특성에 1) 호기심 2) 주체성 3) 위험을 무릅쓰는 모험 정신, 선택적 정서 특성에 4) 신속한 결단에 의한 행동지향성 5) 마찰을 피하지 않는 투쟁심, 유지적 정서 특성에 6) 목표지향적 성향 7) 실패를 자산화하는 긍정적 성향 8) 미래에 대한 낙관적 성향 9) 열정적 성향 10) 강한 근성과 승부욕 11) 과제집착 성향 12) 위기에 강한 대담성, 사회적 특성 영역의 대내적 특성에는 1) 솔선수범의 리더십 2) 설득력 3) 동기 부여 능력, 대외적 특성에 4) 인류애적책무감, 환경적 요인 영역의 가정 환경에 1) 유전적 요인 2) 문화적 요인, 교육 환경의 3) 지식적 환경특성 4) 경제적 환경 특성, 사회 환경의 5) 시간적 환경 특성 6) 공간적 환경 특성이 확인되었다.
둘째, 일론 머스크에게서 발견된 34개의 발명영재성 요인 중 이론적 차원의 선행 연구 및 실존 인물의 삶을 조명한 선행 연구에서 도출된 발명영재성 요인과 공통되는 요인은 총 3가지로 1) 뛰어난 학습 능력 2) 혁신적 사고 능력 3) 과제집착 성향으로 나타났다.
셋째, 뛰어난 발명가의 행적을 분석하여 발명영재성 요인을 도출한 선행연구에서 공통적으로 발견되었으나 일론 머스크에게 나타나지 않은 발명영재성은 1) 아이디어 발상 및 기록 능력 2) 완벽주의 성향이었으며, 반대로 다른 선행 연구에서 나타나지 않은 일론 머스크만의 차별화된 발명영재성은 1) 표상적 사고 능력 2) 알고리즘적 사고 능력 3) 프로토타입화 사고 능력 4) 마찰을 피하지 않는 투쟁심 5) 미래에 대한 낙관적 성향 6) 위기에 강한 대담성 7) 동기 부여 능력으로 나타났다. 일론 머스크의 차별화된 7가지 발명영재성은 그를 둘러싼 다양한 환경적 요인과 상호작용하면서 일론 머스크만의 독특한발명영재성을 발현시켰다는 점에서 의미있는 요인으로 판단된다.
