유구 세자 이야기의 진실과 변이(變移) 양상 -역사적 사건의 굴절 양상과 그 의미- = The Truth of Prince, Yoo-Ku`s Story and Its Aspect of Twist -The Twisted Aspect of Historical Accident and its Meaning-

The story about prince, Yoo-Ku, murdered by a governor of Jeju has been handed down till today as a legend and unofficial historical tale on the basis of historical accident. This study is to reveal in what aspect this historical accident could be twisted and what is the gap, difference from the truth when it is transferred in a form of legend and unofficial historical tale. For this purpose, a lot of data and books about prince, Yoo-Ku, has been referred and found than in the previous studies. Among these data and books, the personality and identity about the governor of Jeju was discovered very differently in several different books. Then the historical truth about the story of prince, Yoo-Ku, was examined more deeply. This story of prince, Yoo-Ku, comes out into the open that it is a twisted story by political reasons and rumors from the murder accident of Yooku-man. “The diary of Kwang-Hae-Kun” and “The chronicles of In-Jo” are bases of its reliability. And more, by hint of a name, ‘Jook-Seo-Ru’, a location of Jeju, a poem about death of prince, Yoo-Ku, turns out to be not his own. On this base, it is found why this story has been spread widely and in what aspect twisted. In studying new data and books about this legend, the main background of passing this story for long up to the modern time is based on its interest and lesson. And more it is found out that the modern legend about prince, Yoo-Ku, ends with a didactic drama, different from the real history. The most objective historical records could be twisted and a false tale by the writers who memorize them, not revealing them today as they were, not containing the truth as it was.
