국가중요시설 드론 테러에 대한 Risk평가에 관한 연구: 드론의 위험성과 시설의 취약성 분석 중심으로 = A Study on the Risk Assessment of Drone Terrorism in National Critical Facilities: Focusing on the dangers of drones and the vulnerability of facilities
As the interest and utilization of drones increase and they become smaller and flight performance stabilizes, the potential risks of drones are becoming a reality. In the war between Ukraine and Russia, which has lasted more than a year, small drones have changed the aspect of the war, and Korea has also been criticized for failing to respond appropriately to the appearance of North Korean drones. As such, drones pose a serious threat to public well-being and national security depending on the purpose of use, but prior literature still lack a specific analysis of the threat of drones and the vulnerability of national critical facilities based on them.
Therefore, this study analyzed the impact delivered to the facility in the event of a collision with the ability to mount bombs on each model using a total of five types, including three drones from manufacturers with a high market share in commercial drones and two suicide bombing drones that estimated to be owned by North Korea.
First, the bomb loading capacity was calculated as the amount of TNT assuming how many more bombs the drone could mount using surplus lift other than its own weight. As for the impact amount, the impact energy transmitted when the drone collides with the facility at the maximum speed was analyzed.
Meanwhile, airports, government buildings, and nuclear power plants, which are important national facilities, have different functions and characteristics for each facility, so even the same drone may have different degrees of threat. Therefore, based on the calculated drone threat, the level of response was classified according to the characteristics and characteristics of each facility.
This study has a limitation in analyzing the threat of drones by excluding air resistance or collision angle. However, through a more specific analysis of the vague threat of drones, the study meaningful in suggesting the need for detailed preparation at the level of anti-drone response depending on the characteristics and vulnerabilities of national critical facilities.
