부모효능감과 청소년의 공동체의식 간의 관계: 청소년이 지각한 가족관계, 청소년의 자아존중감의 매개효과 = The Relation Between Parenting Efficacy and Sense of Community Among Adolescents: The Mediating Effects of Perceived Family Relationship and Self-Esteem

Social crises, such as the global climate crisis, have emphasized the importance of individuals’ psychological mechanisms of responsibility for the community or shared merits and demerits. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the context around adolescents, their internal variables, and the sense of community in adolescence when social identity is established. A total of 1,672 pairs of adolescents aged 12 to 17 years (M = 14.95, 900 males, 772 females) and their parents (203 fathers, 1,469 mothers) from the National Survey on Children in Korea were analyzed using SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS macro to conduct sequential mediation effects analysis and bootstrapping tests. First, the direct impact of parenting efficacy on adolescents' sense of community was significant. Second, the sequential mediating effects of adolescents' perceived family relationships and adolescents' self-esteem on the relation between parenting efficacy and adolescents’ sense of community were significant. In other words, when parents feel efficacy, adolescents perceive family relationships positively, and self-esteem leads to a higher level of sense of community. This suggests the importance of interventions that promote parenting efficacy, support adolescents’ primary environments, which are their families, and boost their self-esteem to foster a sense of community.
